Tranquil home stay just outside of Udaipur
Posted 9 Nov 2023 on HotelsWow what a stay! To start, the view over the hills and the surrounding lakes are stunning complemented by the various rooftops and balconies. The pool was very relaxing, while watching the local farm animals and inhabitant birds. The icing on the cake were the homestay owners and staff. General DD is a very interesting man, and his wife Joti is an excellent host, attending to every need and running an excellent cooking class. The food we ate after that class was absolutely delicious! One of the best meals of our monthlong trip.Devra exceeded all expectations, thank you!

Great spot!
Posted 22 Oct 2017Hotel and staff were amazing and in a nice quite location just out of town. Our room was lovely and we had everything we needed the only downside was that we were not aware or told at check in that dinner and a drink was an extra charge and given a bill at the end of our stay asking to pay in cash only. It seams expected that you would obviously pay for dinner I know but the way it was asked of us and the fact we were not told of the prices etc in advance made it very awkward.

Calm and comfortable home stay
Posted 9 Mar 2015 on HotelsIt is a home stay and not a hotel. Hence, the room and bathroom was very spacious. Hot water and AC were available. There were 3 balconies for my room and all giving fantastic scenic views of mountains. The cool and fresh air was refreshing and the morning sun coming on one of the balconies really give a bright starting to your day. It is around 7-8km from the main city, in a village. The food was personsalized, healthy and tasty. The owner and wife really care for you. The cons are that, there is no TV or Wifi. It is a bit off from the main road and every taxi driver may not know it well.

Home away from home
Posted 27 Feb 2014 on HotelsThe devra is a good hotel for those who want to escape the noise pollution of the Indian streets. It is surrounded by mountains and the landscape so green. The air is clean and refreshing. It has a simple basic charm to it. Very homey and comfortable. You wake up to the sounds of dogs barking and the birds. I will definitely go back.

Excellent in every way

Pros: The setting, location of the hotel and the friendliness of everyone including the Major, his wife, the staff and the guests.
Cons: Wifi availablity
Location: Pleasant walks in the countryside all around the hotel. 15 taxi ride into Udaipur to visit the Palaces., boat trip around the lake, etc. lots to do
A excellent 4 night stop here. The Major and his wife, and staff, were all very helpful and did everything possible to make your stay welcoming, comfortable and personal. There was plenty of space to sit and relax in the sun or in the shade, in a comfy armchair inside or on the terrace or in the gardens.
Rooms were spacious, comfy, clean, had good views of the surrounding countryside.
There was a minimal choice for breakfast but adequate and tasty. The one morning because there were only a four in the hotel and it was such a sunny lovely morning they moved breakfast from the breakfast room onto the front terrace.
An evening meal was available at Devra if you booked it of a morning. A good selection of home cooked Indian food. They made sure that you had a different selection of food for your evening meal on a subsequent evening with them.
It was well worth the 15 drive out to this residence as it was quiet and peaceful and the views fantastic. You woke to birds singing, and not horns honking(like in Delhi). One of the staff soon sorted a taxi when you needed one whether it be for a quick journey into Udaipur or all day.
There was plenty to do in Udaipur and the surrounding area, including going a walk along the lanes and fields.
Wifi wasn't available throughout the hotel and sometimes they turned it off but if you asked they soon put it on.
If you go to the top of Monson Palace you can clearly work out where devra is.

Fabulous Property with astonishingly great view
Posted 30 Aug 2013
Pros: Everything, but especially the genuine warmth exuded by the staff.
Location: View of the lake and palaces. Udaipur by itself!!
Stayed at the Hotel for transit through Udaipur, and break neck pace Tourism. All anxiousness evaporated on reaching with the extremely genuine warm welcome extended by a courteous staff. Half the battle won in their favour, the next half was won by the staff again through their cooperation and friendly but respectable approach during Dinner et al. Lovely home cooked food. Excellent place to stay with nil regrets whatsoever, and would love to avail accommodation at the really Royal feel place again and again.

Very far from city and food a problem
Posted 24 Aug 2013
Pros: only the seclusion from the city noise
Cons: food option, a proper restaurant helps in ordering food of your choice.
Location: monsoon palace is not far off, however other city location are quite distant
Hotel is very far from the city, food is a problem as breakfast option are limited, even though they charge INR 250 per person. problem due to expedia booking error made the stay even more stale. Location for a couple is exotic, however for friends wanting a good time, have a second option to it.
