OK to stay, but eat somewhere else!
Posted 30 Sep 2018 on HotelsThe hotel is in a good, if rather out-of-the-way location, but the main attractions of the town are still walkable. The staff are friendly enough and the public areas of the hotel are appealing, though our room was rather basic. The main disappointment was the quality of the food in the restaurant (we wanted to eat in as it was just an overnight stay). The other people in the restaurant happened to be French, so we were also given a menu in French - not really a problem, as it happens, but a bit strange! It was an inexpensive, fixed price, three-course menu, so maybe we were a bit too optimistic! We ordered 'bavette de veau' as our main course and were shocked to be presented with a dark brown piece of meat that had been hammered to within a millimetre of its life. It was completely overcooked and had the toughness and consistency of the sole of my shoe (though with rather less flavour). The French group at the next table also had some strange experiences: they ordered chicken and they got... chicken, but without any of the accompanying vegetables the menu described. I think they gave up at this point, as they had already had an amusing misunderstanding with the waiter about the wine - they asked for rosado, but were brought and served a red sweet sparkling wine. With some wry smiles they sent it back and opted for Rioja (a wise choice!). So, all in all, a restaurant experience to avoid!

Bad!
Posted 14 May 2017 on HotelsWhen we arrived we wanted to move out. Had booked an appartment so we could cook etc. But there was NOTHING in the cupboards. We had to wait for the service lady to supply us with a few meagre items. I begged for tea cups, chopping board, sharp knife. Not like any appartment we have stayed in before.
Very noisy. Traffic and people upstairs moving furniture at 1 am.
Couldn't use pool as its not open until June but werent told that when we booked.
Shower holder on wall was broken and it took two requests to fix it.
Good points - easy to park and only 15 mins to city centre.
I wouldn't stay here again .

Special Hotel in Historical Center of Ubeda
Posted 27 Jan 2017
Pros: The quiet location, easy walking around the old town, and the historical atmosphere.
Cons: We would have appreciated a coffee maker or electric kettle in the room.
Location: The hotel is close to the main square and historical churches.
The hotel is set up like a traditional manor house full of antiques in the maze of lanes that form the historical heart of Ubeda. Our room was small but comfortable. Finding the hotel with the very narrow lanes and one way systems was difficult at first, but there was (tight) parking and once we were settled in, it was easy to walk everywhere from there.

A break in Ubeda.
Posted 31 Jul 2016 on HotelsThe hotel itself was old world opulence unfortunately the rooms did not live up to the same standard, small, clean but basic,no view from window only wall( no.114) . Buffet Breakfast fair, only hot food one morning, other than toast. Very difficult to approach by road as it was VERY narrow, could only just get Landrover Discovery through, 1 inch to spare either side with mirrors in. Situation good in old part of city. Only parking outside of hotel for 4/5 cars, but plenty of free parking 5 minute walk. This appears to be the same for most of the hotels In this area, even the Parador. Wi Fi slow and erratic.

Customer Service
Posted 10 Jul 2015No one speaks English which does not matter generally but in specific situations it creates problems - and they are stated on the web as able to speak English.
They won't answer the telephone, have no means of recording telephone messages and won't reply to or even acknowledge emails in English or Spanish.
As a hotel it was fine and in a good location but the service lets them down badly.
