Two Oceans Aquarium

Two Oceans Aquarium showing marine life as well as a small group of people

With sharks, rays, tropical fish and forests of kelp, this aquatic attraction provides deep insights into life under the ocean waves.

Discover fascinating secrets of the sea when you explore the underwater world of the Two Oceans Aquarium. Inside its vast tanks are hundreds of species of aquatic animals of the Indian and Atlantic oceans.

Stand in front of the massive transparent acrylic walls of the Ocean Basket Kelp Forest exhibit. Peer into this underwater forest to view fish swimming and sheltering among species of giant kelp, a type of seaweed.

Go to the exhibit with numerous species of predatory fish. Among them are the giant kob and the black musselcracker. For closer views of rays and a loggerhead turtle, walk to the semi-tunnel at the perimeter of the exhibit. Watch schools of brightly colored tropical fish in the Indian Ocean Gallery and feel starfish, anemones and hermit crabs in the touch pool.

One of the most popular activities at Two Oceans Aquarium is watching an animal feeding session. These take place in several exhibits at various times during the day. Visit the aquarium's official website for specific times.

The aquatic attraction also operates a variety of paid animal experiences, such as the Penguin Encounter. Experienced divers are permitted to scuba dive in a few exhibits. Novices can pay for a 1-day scuba-diving course at the aquarium which will enable them to reach a sufficient level to be able to dive in the predatory fish exhibit.

The aquarium is located on Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Arrive by bus or by car and park for a fee in the garage opposite the aquatic attraction.

Two Oceans Aquarium is open daily and admission charges apply. There are reduced prices for children and senior citizens. Children under the age of 4 get in for free. Consider buying a combo ticket that includes a 90-minute ride on a catamaran on Table Bay. Learn about the city's marine environment and search for dolphins, whales and other sea animals as you sail around the bay.
