Excellent choice for anglers or ramblers. Nice accommodation, hot tub soaking and sitting by a fire at night were great. Hosts are very knowledgeable about the area and make an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful modern lodge with gracious hosts. The property has a lot of indoor and outdoor public areas to relax with a glass of wine and book in hand. Rebecca and Jason are attentive, anticipating their clients needs, and are at the ready to make great dining and sightseeing recommendations. The private cedar hot tubs room side are to die for. Highly recommended.

We were only there for a night & were upgraded from a room in the lodge, to the cottage, due to Cyclone Gabrielle which was just beautiful.
Luckily Jason was able to get a booking for dinner that night at The Hare & Copper Eatery plus transport which was a great recommend, although the cottage had full cooking facilities.
Just loved the design of the lodge & cottage!

Very Welcoming 5-Star Lodge in Turangi
Posted 16 Jan 2020 on HotelsA fantastic lodge steps from the Tongariro river hiking trails and 15 minutes from the National Park. Jason was a great host. Breakfast was excellent. They are very welcoming and share lots of information and provide access to local guides and equipment. High praise from us!

We highly recommend the 5-course dinner for an additional fee.
The hiking and rafting vendors that River Birches can book for you are also excellent.
