If you like skiing, Trysil is the place for you. It's one of Norway's most important winter sport resorts, and the town's motto is, fittingly, “Stavtaket foran” (Ski poles forward)!

Trysil is a relatively small town in the county of Hedmark, with 7000 inhabitants, but its population explodes during the winter. Many people have a cabin in the area, and it's not hard to see why—the ski resort in Trysil is one of the biggest in Norway. Trysil isn't just nice to visit in the winter—nature also offers many exciting activities and attractions during the summer.

Trysil's ski resort is called SkiStar Trysil, and boasts more than 30 ski lifts and over 70 km of pistes. There is a piste for everyone at the resort, whether you've just started skiing or are an experienced skier. There are also two snowparks in the resort, for those who like to do jumps or slide down rails.

If you visit Trysil in the winter, but don't care for skiing, there are many other activities you can try. Have a go at ice fishing and dog sledding. You can also join one of the many tours organised in the area. Contact the Trysil Tourist Office for more information.

Even though Trysil is much quieter in the summer, it's still a good time to travel there. Try activities such as rafting or mountain biking down the mountain, or go for a slightly more peaceful walk. You can go rafting on the Trysilelva river, but expect to get wet if you decide to join in!

If you are on holiday in Trysil with children, take them horse riding—a wonderful, engaging activity for the little ones. Sitting on a horse's back for the first time is exciting! Wilderness safaris are organised every summer in the area. Come along and you might see moose and beavers!

Pack your skis and poles and come to Trysil for the weekend. Go skiing and enjoy the resort, and then relax in one of the area's many après-ski bars. If you love snow and the winter, Trysil is the place for you!
