The place was in a good location - very close to campus, which was a huge plus! The hotel itself was not up to the typical Courtyard standards. There were various stages of construction throughout, with peeling paint on the wall and dirty walls and baseboards. There was not breakfast available. The fitness center was good, except the AC wasn’t working and there were no fans. Overall, it was just okay - I guess I expected more because it was a Courtyard and I have never stayed in one that wasn’t very nice.

It appears to be undergoing renovations so that is a temporary negative. The location is ideal.

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening. We were told that the systems were down and we were unable to check in until approximately 30-40 minutes after we arrived. We finally got into our rooms at 10:30pm after many hours of driving. We were unable to shower the next morning due to the water being brown. The water stained the bottom of the tub. Also, we were unable to brush our teeth with the tap water because of the dirty water. When we arrived, there was noticeable water damage in the lobby and on our floor of the hotel. There was exposed pipes and wallpaper that had been ripped off to be replaced at some point. All the front desk offered was complimentary water bottles to wash our face and brush our teeth. We were not given any money back for this huge inconvenience, considering we had a special event to attend the morning that we checked out of the hotel. We have pictures and videos of the water conditions in the shower/tub. We were very dissatisfied with our stay.

While checking in on Tuesday, I noticed several blowers on the first floor. In addition, the ceiling appeared to be stained with water. The staff member assisting me shared that the sprinkler system was accidentally activated a few days prior to my arrival, which created water damage on each floor of the hotel. This also impacted the common area on the first floor, due to the positioning of blowers. During the second day of my stay the fire alarm in my room continued to periodically be activated, due to the system being tested. This lasted for several hours throughout the day. I completely understand that accidents will happen. However, as a courtesy, since I booked the room more than a week ago, I would have appreciated being informed of these issues by Marriott, before discovering them when checking in to the hotel.

We attempt to reach out to all of our guests to inform them of the impact this may have caused during their stay. We apologize the lobby area was not in great condition during your stay. The fire alarm going off was for our annual testing, again we apologize.

It’s not really the staff’s fault Were there water poured into the building. Specifically, right outside our room door. When they worked to clean it up, they use large fans that kept me up most the night.

This is very convenient for visiting my relatives in Pike County. When we checked in the key machine was not working. We never got a room key while we were there. A young man at the check-in desk was supposed to meet us at our room to let us in. I had to go back and get him. Corners of the bathroom floor next to the tub were dirty. The light blocking shads were torn loose from the track on one side.
