Tooele City is a peaceful town with scenic parks in the shadow of the dramatic Oquirrh Mountains. Just south of the Great Salt Lake, the town is known for its annual arts festival, its thriving copper industry and the Tooele Army Depot. Chat with locals to get a sense of the local culture.

Continue north to the Great Salt Lake State Park, where you can rent a sailboat or motorboat to take out on the water. The lake is far saltier than the ocean and a popular spot for migratory birds. Browse the items on display in the gift shop and learn about the local ecology in the visitor center.
Attend the annual Tooele Arts Festival, which takes place over three days toward the end of June. Browse the various works of art from local vendors and artists, including paintings, jewelry, photographs and sculptures.
The town is in its namesake county in the southwestern outskirts of Salt Lake City in central Utah. Fly to Salt Lake City International Airport and drive southwest for about 30 miles (50 kilometers) to get here.
