Posted 8 Feb 2018Had self contained unit which seemed brand new. Helpful staff and pickup right at driveway. Charge for shuttle luckily we could hike next day as I would not want to be stuck out here waiting. Nothing out here. You come to hike

Good for the price

Pros: The price, we were basically after somewhere to sleep as we were in the region for outdoor activities.
Cons: The showers were very sensitive and hard to keep warm. they seemed to jump from piping hot to freezing randomly if others were using the other cubicle
Location: Very close to the Ketitahi end of of the Tongariro crossing. Lakes, fishing, trail running, tramping and hunting oportunities pretty much just outside
Good cheap basic accomodation as described. Facilities were dated but clean and tidy.

Fine for a night...
Posted 27 Nov 2017 on HotelsAlthough it was fine for what we were looking for and the owner was nice, the place is quite run down. We stayed at a number of parks across New Zealand and I’m sorry to say that this was our least favourite. We really struggled to cook in the kitchen as it is badly equipped, every other place we’ve been at had basics like oil, salt, pepper etc but all this kitchen has are pots and pans.

Not a good place to stay

Pros: That is close to Ruapehu
Cons: cleanliness
Location: Close to Ruapehu which is the main thing to do in the area.
We have used this place in the past and the experience was good but this time we were not allow to use the cabins because they decided that cabins is for couples, no kids allowed on the cabins. There were spider webs on the ceiling and also fleas that fortunately didn't bite my kids only me.
We will not be back because with kids is handy to have ensuite cabins and they are not longer using that for families, we thought it was going to be ok but it wasn't and also the cleanliness is not acceptable.
The whole place is in need for some maintenance as it is easy for bugs to come inside when you see holes on the facade, it looks old and run down.
