I was very disappointed overall with this place. The location is good, fairly close to the beach, the restaurant is lively with a great view, but my room didn't look like it had been cleaned properly. I found a few earbuds and bottle tops on the floor. The sink was blocked and had to be cleaned out. The room was really nothing else but a room, and everything about it seemed worn and old. The casitas are so close together and walls so thin that I could hear everything coming from both neighbours so I barely slept. And the pool was dirty and not really useable.

A place to be avoided

Posted 7 Jan 2017 on Hotels
All together I'm very disappointed in this place and I wouldn't recommend it at all to anyone I know. upon arrival we even didn't have a charging point to charge our phones. There was only one socket to work the stand up fan and we had to wait to the end of first night until we got an adapter to charge the phone, toothbrush, etc. The safe and the wifi weren't available at the room as they are only available in the reception and restaurant respectively. The last night we returned from the evening walk on the beach and the weather was hot, but to our frustration there was no water to shower and there was no one at the reception to hopefully sort the issue. We had to sleep uncomfortably without a shower which is not easy in such hot condition with only stand up fan and no AC. Upon departure I was planning to leave at 8:00 AM thinking that the reception will open at 7:00 AM along with the restaurant both didn't open on time and when the reception was open the bill was not correct and had to lose additional time to correct it. Once again I'm very disappointed with this place especially with the rate that I was charged with such less than basic room. This also has affected my confidence in booking with Hotels.com.

Great Beach Location.

Casa Barry has an ideal location on the beach. Its at end away from the noise of the market and clubs, yet still super close to them. The staff and owners are lovely and helpful. Great deck to hang out on. Good food at the restaurant.

Very Beautiful Location

Pros: Being able to dine on a large open-air wooden deck overlooking the Tofo Bay. Seafood was delicious, specially the coconut prawns!
Location: Whale watching excursions and diving with the whale sharks Peri Peri Diving Fishing Surfing - great sandy beach
We stayed 7 days at Casa Barry. We loved watching the local fishermen coming in with their catch at the end of the day. Small, very colourful OLD wooden boats - the fish that was caught and carried inside the boat was quite incredible. This daily ritual (as long as it was calm enough to put to sea) occurred just below Casa Barry. You could watch from the wooden deck, or get more involved and wander down to see and appreciate the people and their "catch". Good swimming and walking the beach. The Local Market, just down the beach, sells fresh fruit and vegetables and a very good selection of artifacts and beautiful shells. The Megafauna Research Centre is based at Casa Barry. Informative, extremely interesting talks are presented several times a week by the young scientists who are researching the Giant Manta Ray and the Whale Shark at this Centre. Enjoyed these talks very much. We liked the staff enormously. Everyone was very friendly, always helpful and their smiling welcome each day was a great way to start the day.

Great location, ok spot

The lodge has a fantastic location in Tofo and is a comfortable stay. I found the condition of the rooms a bit run down for the price...mainly the bathrooms which had a clogged up shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful though.

Quaint beach experience

Cons: The bed linen.
Very authentic beach experience. Quaint accommodation though the linen was old and thin. Can't complain for what it cost us. Gorgeous part of the world only steps from the beach. Great experience.

Very nice position & sea view but awful treatment

Posted 8 Oct 2013
The location of Casa berry is really very nice, just above the beach and with an astonishing sea view from the cabana veranda, the cabana itself is also very cute and cozy built in natural reed and thatch architecture style but for around 80 Euro per night and per person you should expect and demand a much more pleasant and comfortable service. The breakfast for instance was included but the Casa Berry responsible was keen to advice us as soon as we arrived that only 1 egg, some slices of bacon, two slice of toasted bread and tea/or coffee were included everything else had to be paid even the bottle of water! And this can also be accepted but they had every morning some excuses about the lack of some food, one day was the fruit jam, the other was the bacon etc...we had to ask even for the towels replacement in our cabana! So nice place, nice view but to me Casa Berry is ...NO!
