Andrea, our host is very warm and attentive. He gave us good recommendations where to have good wine and dinner. We will definitely come back here if we visit Tirano again and will recommend it to our family and friends.

This review is long overdue. We traveled from America to Italy a few months ago and had planned to take the Bernina Express from Tirano. Our group of 7 was delayed getting to the hostel. Throughout that time, Andrea communicated with me and was very patient. We arrived past 10 pm, but Andrea waited for our group to arrive and was so accommodating. The next morning we had our train at 8am, so he got up early and had transportation waiting to take us all down to the train station so that we did not have to walk in the rain or stress about missing the train. We did not even ask him to do all this, yet he was so kind to make sure we were comfortable even if it was only one night. We were so touched by his kindness and hospitality. Absolutely recommend this hostel. 10/10. We wish Andrea the very best.

I recently spent two nights at Ostello del Castello in Tirano, mainly to catch the Bernina Express, like many other tourists. I made a quick decision and acknowledged that I didn’t plan my stay in Tirano very well. Nonetheless, it turned out to be a delightful surprise. The place is enchanting, with a fairy-tale atmosphere and meticulous attention to detail. It stirred up feelings of nostalgia and made me reflect on my ancestors who migrated to Brazil a long time ago, as I now had the chance to visit from the opposite direction. I felt like at home!!! Andrea was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, providing excellent local recommendations that made me wish I had stayed longer. The place was impeccably clean (which I highly value), great breakfast and a very good italian "cappuccione", and featured a stunning terrace perfect for stargazing and vie to the mountains around Tirano. I highly recommend it and look forward to return, perhaps with my family, to discover more of the stunning mountain area and maybe "parlando Italiano" a little bit. Grazie mille Andrea for all your hospitality! Monica ;)

Host was very accommodating. 12 minute walk from train, away from where most hotels are in Tirano. Beautiful property. Local wine maker just a few feet away from property, which makes it even nicer. There is no air conditioning but there were fans in the room. This is a norm in Italy either way. Breakfast was good and at a good price.

My wife and two children went to this hotel and they had the best experience with the host. Is a small hotel, it has a great location since you can walk from the train station. A sincere admiration at the gardens and at the person that cares of them. High praises to la mamma. One of the best, if not the best, of this Europe trip.

At first it felt like a bit of a walk from the train station but it’s really only about 10 minutes. Of course in the summer heat after a long train ride it feels a bit hotter. From the outside the place doesn’t scream how great it is on the inside. And the views from the terrace above the property are pretty great. The renovations are so well done. Just a great place. Note our room did not have AC and I was worried but it was fine. We all slept great in a 3 bed bunk room in July. . Breakfast was also simple but extremely inexpensive and hit the spot.

Our group of 6 was simply looking for a place to stay the night before our early ride on the Bernina Express but Andrea and this lovely hotel made it a Thursday night to remember. The view from the high patio in the afternoon, the twinkling fairy lights that greeted us when we walked back from a wonderful dinner in town and the outstanding morning breakfast that was made early to accomodate our schedule all contributed to our desire to teturn for a longer stay. The "family room" comfortably accomodated us with modern amenities but also with a charm that transported us back in time. I encourage everyone to plan on more than one night in this wonderland.

Had a fantastic stay. We had the welcome you would expect from a small family run hostel, but with the benefits of any small hotel. Four of us, including two adult children in their 20s, shared the quadruple room and had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing value, with a good range of local products including meats, cheese, breads, cereal, yoghurts, sweet pastries and cakes. Andrea made us feel very welcome and gave us recommendations for where to eat in the evening and where to stop on our train trip back to St Moritz this morning. We came and went by train and the hostel, in the old historic part of the town, was an easy 10 minute walk from the station. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
