Thermae Bath Spa offers indoor and outdoor thermal baths in a modern and chic spa setting. Spend the day receiving massages and treatments, and soaking in the soothing hot pools. These pools are fed by the same mineral-rich water used by the Celts and Romans 2,000 years ago.
The complex is comprised of two separate buildings: the Cross Bath and the New Royal Bath. Visit the larger New Royal Bath for access to more extensive spa facilities including a series of aromatic steam rooms, indoor thermal baths and an open-air rooftop pool with magnificent views of Bath Abbey.
If visiting the New Royal Bath, pick up your robe and slippers and prepare for a day of ultimate relaxation. There are two natural pools filled with curative waters, as well as invigorating waterfall showers and aromatic steam rooms. Make use of the massage jets in the Roman-themed Minerva Pool and save time for a dip in the rooftop pool, where you can swim against the spectacular backdrop of the city of Bath and surrounding hills.
Alternatively, try the more intimate Cross Bath, which is situated in a separate building and features one small open-air thermal pool. This spa stands on an ancient and sacred site, where the Celts worshiped the goddess Sul, who oversaw all sacred springs.
In addition to bathing, you can also learn about the history of Bath’s hot springs at the visitor center. Take the 30-minute audio tour to learn about the role the baths played in the evolution of the city.
The bath complex also features the elegant Springs Café Restaurant. Eat healthy meals and light bites, while admiring the attractive Georgian architecture. Opposite the main building is the spa shop, where you can peruse skincare products, scented candles and other items designed with relaxation in mind.
The site opens daily from morning until evening. There is an entrance fee. Choose from various spa packages, which vary in price depending on the length and type of treatments.
The Thermae Bath Spa is located next to the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey in the city center. The spa is just a few minutes’ walk from Bath Railway Station and it can also be reached by bus.
