Bathe in a lagoon at the end of a waterfall and choose from the trails that meander through this scenic park.

The Water Gardens of Vaipahi offer a peaceful and picturesque site with educational information about the exotic vegetation of the region. Lush plants and waterfalls decorate this serene haven, which has winding paths that allow you to explore the complex at your own pace. Make your way to the lake in the heart of the park and have a picnic in these tropical surroundings.

Embark on a pleasant stroll with your family past the various ponds and streams of this garden wonderland, which is spread out across 2.5 acres (1 hectare). Examine some of the more than 75 distinct plant species. Chat with docents to learn about the vegetation and listen to the spiritual legends surrounding the nearby Vaima River.

Encounter some of the surviving archeological sights on a walk along the river. Continue through a tropical forest and spy the overhanging cliffs that offer a panoramic view of the whole park.

Swim in the small lagoon fed by a waterfall and snap a selfie in this spot that is famous among Beatles fans. It is said that George Harrison spent time here in the 1960s.

Purchase dried fruit and other products from the open-air stalls. Browse the various items of a botanical nature in the gift shop, such as citrus ginger juice and banana bread. This southeastern part of Tahiti is known to be quieter and less crowded than other parts.

You can enter the gardens for free. Consider bringing bug repellent to fend off mosquitoes during your visit.

Find the Water Gardens of Vaipahi in the commune of Mataiea, 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Pape’ete and 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Taravao. It is on the southern coast of Tahiti. Leave your car in the parking lot along the main road. Visit nearby sights, such as the Port de Faratea, the Harrison Smith Botanical Garden and the Tahiti Plantations.
