I saw a spider clawing on my bed and I had got a few bites by bed bugs. The toilet was smelly too.

Overall a pleasant and friendly place, kept pretty clean with decent facilities. They lost a star because the fridge was rank and the kitchen very basic. Overall a good stay, but a little expensive for what was on offer.

Good basic hostel. Nice staff, comfortable lounge area and lots of parking available. Close to masshu-ko. Not very noise proof against people walking in the corridors early in the morning/late at night

Simple place to sleep at near Mashu lake

Posted 5 Sep 2018 on Hotels
The hostel offers very simple services - simple single, simple shared bathroom and place to cook. In the other hand, the place offers hospitality feelings and all the people are very nice. Not on purpose, we got to the hostel very late (around 12 PM) and the host wait for us about 2 hours. The hostel is very comfortable if you travel with a car - 2 minutes from little city and 15 minutes from Mashu lake observation. About 30 minutes from Akan mountain. By the way, don't drive to the hostel at night. There are deers that cross the road.

Inexpensive place to stay for Mashu and Kussharo

Posted 15 Oct 2017 on Hotels
Bearing in mind that it's a youth hostel so your expections need to be appropiately set, this was an reasonable place to stay overnight whilst on a roadtrip of Hokkaido. Lake Mashu is literally just 5 minutes up the road, and you're conveniently placed to visit Mount Io and Lake Kussharo. It's on the edge of town so having your own transport will make things easier. The hostel itself is showing its age but is reasonably well maintained, but there are some areas of the property that would benefit from some maintenance and investment. So in summary, Masyuko Youth Hostel is ok, but it will unlikely be the best accomodation of your trip.

Great host, relaxing stay

The history Dai is a really cool dude, very helpful with lots of recommendations around the area. The hostel has a very relaxed vibe and all the amenities you need like coin laundry, kitchen, common area and Japanese style baths, I really enjoyed my stay
