We stayed at Lake Taupo Motor inn for 2 nights as a family of 4. We got lucky with the end room which had big windows and a nice view. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms nice and dark with curtains drawn. It was a nice quiet location although still super close and handy to shops, cafes and restaurants. The pool was too cold for my 4 year old however there was also a spa to warm up in. Great stay

The room was fantastic with plenty of parking. The only downside, which really wasnt too bad at all was that the bed was a little uncomfortable and the pillows were very uncomfortable and hard. Otherwise it was a fantastic stay.

We only stayed for the night so didn’t get to see much of the property but the staff were great, we had an issue driving up that delayed us and stopped me from seeing the missed calls on my phone, I arrived to the reception being closed so I was expecting to have to find another hotel for the night but thankfully the after hours phone was answered and we were quickly checked in. The room was a great size for three people, the beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. It was great value for money.

I arrived booked for two nights and on check in was allocated to a room which smelled strongly when I entered. It was a bit like burning but off. I opened both doors to create a through breeze and unpacked. It was too bad to handle so I went to reception. They had the no vacancy sign on. She gave me an air freshener spray which I used in large volume and then returned as requested. I spent the night in that room but it smelt badly all night and I was awake at 5am. I was at reception a few minutes after it opened at 8am and said it was not ok and could I have a different ground floor room please. I was allocated a new one without difficulty. The woman said that she suspected people had burned something in their previously. I was both validated and frustrated at once. That means you put someone into an access room knowing it smelled bad. I have multiple conditions triggered by things like this. I was so frustrated by that. I do feel bad for them, they were done wrong by their prior guest, but they passed that on to me. Not acceptable and I will not be returning. I also noted she didn’t actually apologise for the inconvenience at all.

Liked the short notice for booking and availability, heated pool and spa. Didnt like " super king bed " was extrealy uncomfortable, had what felt like a block of wood down the middle and what felt like next to no matress, left with a really sore back for the 3 hour drive home the next morning
