"The hotel is nicely done and kept incredibly clean. It is quiet and the staff are mostly friendly. The swimming pool is massive and there is good availability of sun beds across the day, although there are very few around the children’s pool. The play area is small and designed for toddlers, but there is a full agenda of activities in the kids club. "Had a nice stay at Gran Tagoro recently with my family. The hotel is great, rooms clean and staff friendly. Food is ok, but got boring later in the stay, always the same at breakfast and lunch. We did not get dinner."

"Superb escape for some Easter sun. The only negative is they need to enforce the 1 hour sunbed reservation rule. Too many people take advantage and turn it into a towels-on-sunbed race in the morning, which really spoils the whole experience."

"Lovely hotel. Complex isn’t too large. Rooms are comfortable and have all you need. Beds are comfy and showers have good water pressure. Relax zone and family zone for pools. "The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The layout of the resort is beautiful. Our suite was very comfortable. The towels were the largest, softest we’ve ever had, the pool towels too. The swimming pools were not warm but perfect in the hot weather. I have been surprised at the poor reviews, everyone we spoke to was as happy as we were. Most poor reviews seem to be regarding the sun beds, either the availability or the comfort. I have no interest in being on a sun bed so cannot...

"A lovely hotel with great facilities and bedrooms, the only thing letting it down was the restaurant. Only stayed one night but the quantity, quality and variety of the food was poor. Difficulty in finding plates and extra cutlery and food was not topped up in a timely manner. Pity as in all other aspects the hotel was great. Poorest food we’ve ever had in H10 hotels or indeed in any other 4* hotels."

"The hotel was spotlessly clean, the facilities were excellent. Great if you want to be active with a varied programme and equally great if you want to just go and relax. The food was really very good (only experienced Breakfast and Dinner, so can’t comment on Lunch) nice to have a choice of Buffet restaurants. The on-site supermarket is very good, well stocked and reasonably priced. We stayed in a family room (3 adults) it was plenty big enough for us with enough privacy. Very comfortable beds, big fluffy towels and cleaned/made up every day. It had a full size fridge and a microwave and kettle. There were 2 televisions but we didn’t really use and a balcony with a table and 4 chairs. I would say the area surrounding the hotel is not great, quite a walk to Costa Teguise. This didn’t bother us as we were only there a few days for some winter sun. So the coastal path walk was lovely of a morning, we were not looking for anything more than that. If you did want a bit of nightlife out of the hotel, you would need to get the bus from outside or taxi I would say. It’s only about 15 mins taxi from airport which cost 22€ each way. Was very easy to pick up a taxi when coming out of airport and there was a taxi rank just outside the hotel and we only waited about 5 mins for one to come along to take us back to the airport. The hotel reception would have called one if we needed though I am sure. All in all a very positive first experience and we would definitely return. "

"Excellent stay and back again in January. The option to have a better room with a view would be good post booking and also rooms do need a little updating, but overall an excellent stay and looking forward to being back in January, this time for 20 days ! :-)"

Royal Level Experience

"Barcalo Royal Level was a great resort - the room was spacious, modern, clean and well equipped. THe main hotel areas are very clean and neatly laid out. The communal toilets near restaurant and pool need some repairs, but every other common area was very nice. The restaurants are so good, the amount of food was amazing and the variety was A LOT! I used the Royal Level restaurant for breakfasts as the chefs making the omelettes, pancakes, bagels, french toast, eggs were better than other restaurants. Other meals I used the bigger buffet restaurants which had more choice. I would recommend the resort it lived up to and exceeded my expectations. Some reviews I read before questions the need for Royal Level booking - but I found it near faultless. I would've liked the Olympic Pool to be included (maybe 2 bookings per trip) but I used the main pools which were really good. The cocktails and access to soft drinks & beer were really good. "

"We had a lovely stay, room was clean & perfect for us. The shower was great & we loved the view. Breakfast had a wide variety of food & drinks. We had lunch by the pool once and it was delicious. Wish we had eaten there more often. We would love to come back and stay again. "
