Birthday weekend away

Lovely hotel, room was nice a size and had everything you needed in it. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. There was a small issue with our bill at check out but that was resolved quickly and easily which was great! Would stay again and recommend to others.

OK for a one night stay

Hotel was fine for a one night stay. I arrived late and there waa lota of free parking and the reception was well signposted. The lady at check in couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The restaurant and bar close very early which I thought was unusual. I arrived at 9pm and there was nowhere to get food other than the Sainsbury's supermarket approximately 5 miles away. Room was OK - very tired/dated but OK for one night. I didn't use the gym or leisure facilities as I arrived too late and had to leave early the next day. Express checkout option was good.

Just an ok hotel

Spacious Public areas that are generally well maintained. Room was quite tired and needed some work - especially in bathroom. Also mould around window in room. Didn't ear dinner there but breakfast was disappointing and definately not worth £10. Overall, an ok hotel, not 4* standard. Probably better ones available in Stratford area

Very slow restaurant service (45 mins wait for mains ) and the food was cold - only ate there on the first night. I think there were staffing problems. The breakfast buffet was very good The safe door was broken in the room, it was reported just after check in, but not fixed during our stay (3 nights), nor was an alternative room offered. We were offered use of the Hotel safe but that is not very convenient The room, staff and and facilities are good, and it is a great location for Stratford, Warwick and the Cotswolds I would definitely stay again but think twice about eating there

Great location, but rooms need a good clean

Lovely location and friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and bed comfortable but the cleanliness of the room was lacking. Shower screen had water marks, tiles around the sink were dirty and stained, hair on the bathroom floor, greasy marks on bedroom mirror and splash marks on wardrobe doors. Comments left with reception on departure.

Beautiful old building and wooden staircase, leading into a modern building, rooms, bar and a beautiful dining room. We found it strange that the menu for the restaurant didn’t change at all over the three nights we stayed. And our biggest complaint was the bar shut at 10.00 on Sunday evening, birthday celebrations came to a close earlier than expected.

Overall was great place to stop. Room was comfortable, nice design, all the facillites you need; tea coffee, tv, hairdrter, iron etc. And it was clean (bathroom, bit dated, but clean) beds super comfy too. Plenty of parking also.

We were very disappointed with the room. When we checked in at about 5pm and went into our room the beds were not made, only one shampoo and shower bottles one soap when clearly the room was for two. We did get the room sorted out. The room certainly did not look a bit like the ones on your web site which was very disapointing

We had booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children, but at check in we were told this had gone to someone else and we had a twin room (2 single beds). It appeared to be a bad day because we were not the only people with wrong room issues. The lady on the desk was excellent though and went out of her way, despite all of the other issues, to find us a room which had been cleaned. She even personally went to the room first to check that it has been serviced and was suitable. After this the stay was good.

We booked this hotel with you on the 10/03 but when we arrived last Friday at 2/00pm with the wedding at 3/00pm they had no record of a booking with you. What would have happened if no room was available. On the second day went back to the room after breakfast and the key did not work. Went out for the day and when we got back the room had not been made up so we had to make our own beds. Went to watch TV but there was no remote so asked at reception and they gave me a Samsung one for a Phillips TV. Naturally it did not work. All you got from reception was "I'm sorry" but no action was taken. Even when we booked out they asked for £190 when our booking with you clearly shows £160. A good hotel is the one that puts the little things right but unfortunately the Ettington Chase does not come into that category.

Nice enough but a little outdated.

The place would benefit from a lick of paint as it looks very tired - radiators going rusty, mould in bath seals, towels that are getting a little threadbare etc however; overall it was a pleasant enough place and breakfast was very nice. We were in a room next to some wedding guests & it got a little rowdy at 4:30 in the morning but that’s not the hotels fault. Overall, it was fine for one night, but we wouldn’t stay there again.

It might have been nice....in 1992.

I rarely leave reviews of hotels but felt I had to for this one, as the photos and ratings are quite misleading. There are two parts to Ettington Chase; the old building, which you see in the photos, is actually quite small in comparison to the built on part, which is where most of the bedrooms and facilities are. I can't say what the rooms in the old building are like, but ours was...pretty horrible. Good: - Friendly staff - Pretty maim facade - Nice location - Bathroom miniatures - Good value for money buffet breakfast - Powerful shower (even with the bits fallen off lying next to it on the side of the bath) Bad: - Had to swap rooms because the first smelled like something had died in it - Dirty room. Dead flies in the corner of the bathroom, hairs, mouldy grouting, and dust....so much dust! Dust on the fan, dust around the fan, dust on the lapshades, dust on the TV and TV unit...everywhere. It literally can't have been dusted for months. The guys from Four in a Bed would've had a fit - Horrible lumpy, hard mattress - No hot room service available - which was 3/4 of the menu. £7 for a sandwich with chicken & bacon sandwich filler. The 'side salad' was a pile of cress. Not watercress, you know, normal cress - Confusing communication - paper notice under the door saying we were settled and to express check out. Then on check out they tried to charge for drinks we didn't have before deciding it was room service
