Lady at front desk very friendly. Hotel a bit dated but room was clean and fine for a one night stay.

I was given 2 single bed room and thats not what i booked. I went to reception to query it and there was nobody there. Waited half an hour, phoned, pressed the buzzer. Had to give up and go to sleep

Room previously had a smoker in it as there was ash on window sill.
Fire alarm went off few times in the middle of the night. No notification from staff to say it was safe to stay in rooms.

Poor lighting around doorway.

But! The man at reception had the grill down at his desk and passed the key to me through the holes, so he obviously didn’t feel safe, and yet guests had to walk between trees and bushes in the dark to get to the front door, because the bulbs had gone in all the nearby street lights. This really should be sorted out, not acceptable.

Thank you for your review, sometimes the reception staff have to do jobs away from reception, and the grill needs to be pulled down as we have alcohol for sale and licensing dictates the office must be locked when reception are away from the desk. Regarding the outside lighting we will pass on your remarks to the main building who are responsible for the grounds. Thanks for the feedback.
