Staying on a working farm was so beautiful. The cows and sheep were beautiful and it was great waking up and seeing them each day. It was a comfortable, lovely home. It is centrally located near Sterling, Glasgow. Loch Lomand and Edinburgh.

The house was gorgeous and very comfortable. We did have to download an app to get a precise location which was unexpected, but easy enough to use. The beds were very comfortable and the location beautiful. If you are looking for a rural retreat in order to explore the beautiful scenery, it's a wonderful choice! Word of warning: careful with the upstairs windows as flies like to congregate on them!

Good property, cosy and clean. Could be greatly improved by the addition of more kitchenware such as range of pots, plates, knives, glasses etc.
Otherwise nice and surrounded by a variety of farm animals.

Nice and quiet, a bit remote but only 25 minutes from attractions like Stirling Castle and Wallace Monument.
Excellent fly fishing opportunity nearby- famous Lake Mentieth is only two miles away.

Way more modern than the photos!
We booked to stay in Yew Tree Cottage in early March and had a wonderful time. The cottage was perfectly clean, the check in instructions were clear and the directions were very helpful.
Everything worked as it should and the fireplace was amazing, there's even a coal shed to keep you going for an evening or two, with the option to buy more directly from the owner.
Our dog had a great time running around in the well-kept garden. We were especially thankful for the wee torch provided. The only things that could improve the garden would be a picnic bench or dining table and a wee bit more dog proofing. For example, adding chicken wire around the bottom of the entrance gate. But if you don't have a very curious dog, this won't be a worry!
The cottage is less than 40 mins drive from Loch Lomond, 30 from the Devil's Pulpit and 15-25 to lots of other villages. The nearest supermarket is about 15 mins away. The only walkable restaurant is Nick's, which we highly recommend. It's 30 mins walk away, but we drove because it's pitch black at night time along winding country roads!
We would (and will) stay here again, the bathroom has been modernised compared to the photos. As has the living room furniture. A wonderful cottage. Thank you!

Beautiful place. Not easy to find when travelling for the first time. Directions from website are confusing. Just search for Dykehead, this is the place where to find the cottage.

Homely and dog friendly
On arrival we and our dogs immediately felt quite at home. Such lovely views, and exactly as described in the advert. We felt the remote but central location was ideal for us as a base to enjoy some of the local walks. We wanted somewhere dog friendly (remote to avoid potential fireworks) and this cottage was ideal, though as it is part of an estate there are lots of sheep close by and the garden is not secure, so please be aware.

Great for exploring
We had a great stay, its the perfect base for exploring the Trossachs and they allow pets.
The cottage is pretty spacious with a log burner in the living room. The furniture is perhaps a little tired looking but very comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was warm and cosy. The only problem was trying to find it in the dark. Really not easy. Satnav does not help as it takes you to the estate.
The property was very suitable for our family of two adults and two teenagers. Amenities were excellent, and the location was quiet and relatively secluded; although an easy drive from the historic city of Stirling.
During our stay, we were able to complete day trips to Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh, as well as a circuit of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond national park.
I was neutral on the cleanliness only because of the dog hair. It is obviously used by a lot of dog owners due to the great choices of walks in the area. The cottage is very clean but it doesn't matter how much cleaning you do after dogs have been in there, will still be hair. Its not a complaint just an observation, if it wasn't for the dog hair it would have got full marks, a 'clean' sweep, pardon the pun.
Now to the positive, a super cosy cottage with super comfy beds in a great location. My youngest loved being on a working farm and the amount (and variation) of friendly animals as neighbours was, I have to say, pretty cool.
There are loads of attractions within half an hour:
Historic Scotland: The Priory, pretty much next to the cottage, Doune Castle, Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and a bit further afield Edinburgh Castle - All available with an annual membership so you can get them all for very cheap.
Farm Park at Comrie - reasonably priced and loads to do.
Aberfoyle (5 miles) - a few thing to see and do there.
The Church and its old graveyard at the end of the entrance road is also worth a visit. It was open from 2 till 4 when we were there and we had a great chat with the lady who was doing the visitor rota at the time. This is available for a any small donation to the up keep of the, beautiful, Church.
The Cardross Estate is worth a quick visit, no dogs allowed as its a working sheep farm.
We were very impressed with the location and size of the cottage, our only niggles were the furniture could do with replacement-the settee/armchairs were not comfortable and the bed mattresses were failing for those of us with poor backs.
