Awesome people
Posted 8 Apr 2017Andros, what a beautiful place. It's a trip in space and in time. If you are going to visit Andros, you should know that the place is very undeveloped, tiny airport, pothole ridden roads, very hard to find convenience stores, a few pharmacies on the island, and very few people. The official population is 7800 Androsians occupying an area of aroud 2300 square miles, and tons of beach. A trip to Andros is more akin of a camping trip. Go prepared, do not assume buying things there, make sure you have all your medications and bug spray.
On the bright side, we had a blast! The people of Andros are phenomenal! The most friendly i have met around the world. You feel so safe and embraced by the locals, that after a few days you feel like you have lived there your whole life. We loved our host at the hotel (love at first sight),Sheila. She was a joy, very welcoming and nice, and a wonderful cook to boot. We just ate what she made and we were delighted at every meal. The island is mostly catering to divers, snorkelers, and fishermen. If you are going for these activities, it is the most wonderful island of the Bahamas. But at night time, you should go back to sheila's have a dinner and relax and get ready for the next day. The hotel is located in a creek, where you can look down from the deck and see a myriad sea life, from barbs, to jacks, to trumpet fish, barracudas, nurse sharks, eagle rays and many others. You can fish off of her deck, just bring your own fishing rod.

Authentic Bahamian Vacation
Posted 15 Jan 2017 on HotelsAndros is a rural tropical island which offers an authentic Bahamian vacation. Love at First Sight is a "gem" on the island. A perfect place to have an "off-the-grid" vacation. Sheila's gracious hospitality is top notch! She is a fabulous chef and tailors her meals for her guests. From fresh fish, to chicken, pork, a variety of rice delicacies, native vegetables and seasonal fruits, she offers fresh and healthy meals. She maintains her property with great attention to detail and offers spectacular views. Centrally located on the island, Sheila can connect you to any activity you want.

Pleasant retreat
Posted 18 Apr 2016 on HotelsVery isolated if have no transport. No loungers for pool or deck though anyway a major problem with biting flies. Need to ask for umbrella. 10 minute walk to lovely beach. Meals OK, ordered in advance, very reasonably priced. Good hot breakfast.
