Lovely hotel and perfect location. The nicest and most comfortable bed and bedding we have had in the last four weeks in Germany for Euro24. Would happily book again.

The bar, lobby areas amd rooms are stylish and clean and the building is cool. However the breakfast is overpriced at nearly 17 euros - there is a limited buffet selection with no hot food and only coffee from a machine, its not worth the money.

Great stay
Posted 22 Jun 2024 on HotelsI stayed here for the Euros, as I had tickets for a match in Gelsenkirchen. The hotel staff spoke great English and were very helpful. The room was clean and the noise from the street was minimum. The town of Essen has a few restaurants and bars. The hotel is around a 15 minute walk to the Hauptbahnhof. I would recommend Motel One to other travellers.

Great small room, very clean, very well maintained, bar staff stunning. Check in, no room ready after waiting 3 hours to check in. Staff at check in very aggressive. No kettle in room or ability to get morning drinks unless you pay for simple and expensive breakfast.

Posted 13 Dec 2023 on HotelsThe checkin was easy. We were confused about the parking situation. We had to go inside and find out where to park. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. The staff was very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay better. The Christmas markets were across the street from the hotel which made it nice for visiting day or night. Dining choices were abundant within easy walking of the hotel.

Been coming here for 10 years since it's location is perfect for our needs. I liked the simplicity and decoration of the lobby and dining room better before it's renovation. the decor is too busy now.
This time, we had a renovated room. I missed the closet that was there before, it has even less storage space now. just 2 tiny shelves that can't even fit a pair of shoes.
The bathroom smelled like somebody had been smoking in there, and there was contact lens in the bed that was not from my family
