Follow in the footsteps of Jurassic giants and explore the displays at the site built on top of dinosaur tracks from 200 million years ago.

The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm uses fun, interactive displays to enlighten visitors about Utah’s geological formations and the extraordinary prehistoric dinosaurs that once roamed the area. The attraction brings the ancient beasts back to life through awe-inspiring replicas and restorations. Children will enjoy play areas where they can examine and draw tracks. Visitors come to the site to see the trails where they were discovered on the shores of a prehistoric lake. The attraction dates back to 2000, when a preserved dinosaur track was discovered at the site.

Gaze at Jurassic footsteps preserved in sandstone from around 200 million years ago. Marvel at the dinosaur replicas created by local artists. The Megapnosaurus was relatively small at 10 feet (3 meters) long and 70 pounds (32 kilograms) while the young Dilophosaurus would have grown to 23 feet (7 meters) and over 1,000 pounds (500 kilograms). Examine the temporary Special Displays to learn about intriguing and lesser-known dinosaur facts, such as how they got their names and how large their eggs were. Watch a short, informative video about the tracks.

Take the kids to the interactive area where they can create dinosaur stencils, play with toys and read books about the giant creatures. Watch younger children search for artificial prints in the sandbox. Adopt an archeological track to help preserve it. Visit the gift shop where you can buy T-shirts, books and casts of prehistoric track imprints.

The site is open from morning until late afternoon from Monday through Saturday. The admission fees for adults and children are low and infants enter free.

Find the Dinosaur Discovery Site in the center of St. George, next to Slick Rock Park, slightly north of the Virgin River. Take a bus to Millcreek High School, which is a 5-minute walk from the site. It’s an ideal place to enjoy an air-conditioned break or spend a rare rainy afternoon.
