Wonderful old building. Right across the street from the best restaurant in town. Bit noisy at night. Very nice city square. Breakfast was an added charge, but well worth it.

The owner is very kind and considerate and did everything possible to make our one night stay welcoming. We needed something between Lascaux and Padirac Cave. The hotel is clean and the chambers are large and the village is beautifully picturesque. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the bed was just a bit firm so I woke up with a sore hip but this is just me because I like a softer mattress. The price we paid was very reasonable and I highly recommend!

Lovely little Auberge in the centre of the ancient quarter. Needs a bit of TLC

We booked online the morning of our stay, but when we arrived, the hotel had given the room to someone else. Expedia and we were not happy!

A hotel that is in serious decline

Posted 28 Sep 2017 on Ebookers
Pros: It's location, and breakfast choices bearing in mind nothing is cooked so forget about any English style breakfast offerings.
Cons: Frankly almost everything from its cleanliness to its organisation and its lack of modernity. Is it trying to be a hotel or not?
Location: Just 100 metres from the main road running through the town, so ideally located. A typical tourist town with weekly markets, shops, restaurants and ba
I first stayed at this hotel 41 years ago with several members of my family when it was a fully functioning family run hotel. Then it had an excellent restaurant and rooms which were organised and in good condition. I repeated my visits on several occasions and remained broadly very pleased with my stays. It is with great sadness I have to say it is a hotel in terminal decline, the restaurant is no more, the superior room lacks anything to class it as such, the only aspect I could say was it had space and the bed was at least clean and fairly comfortable. In addition the variety available for breakfast was good and not excessively priced. Bearing in mind its ideal position in the town and what I know of its previous excellent performance as a fully functioning well run hotel in years gone by - all I can say with the greatest regret it is unlikely to be a place to stay for travellers of any discernment.

Character hotel in town centre

Posted 29 Jun 2017 on Hotels
A hotel with a lot of character; as a building and the interior decoration. Limited car parking in the area of the hotel so it might be difficult in high season. Ideal for walking around the town. Rooms are comfortable, but a bit on the small side. There was nobody on reception in the evening to answer any queries.

nicest hotel owner!

We booked a room at l'Auberge du Puit last august while traveling to France. As we were moving every night, I had to book a bunch of consecutive nights in different hotels. It turns out that I made a mistake on one of the dates and basically booked 2 hotel rooms the same night and none for the next day. The result is that we showed at 8 PM with kids and luggages to the l'Auberge du Puit, during one of the busiest holiday week-end in France, just to be informed that the room we booked was booked the night before and that there was nothing for us that night. It was entirely my mistake and the hotel owner could have simply shrugged and said it was our problem not hers and good luck finding a hotel room within 2 hours of driving. But instead, the owner made a few calls and after some arrangements managed to find us another room in a nearby building. Some of her friends were staying there, she moved them for the night for us to have the room. She took care of all that and basically saved us from probably having to sleep in our car that night...

French Experience

Posted 18 Aug 2016
If you seek bland, urban, 21st century chain-hotel lodgings this is not the place for you, but if you wish to experience a taste of 'Hello, Hello' rural French laid-back hospitality you will be charmed by this place - after about 24 hours. We spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable, bathroom facilities up-to-date and functional and hot water plentiful. The proprietor goes out of her way to make you welcome; always there when you need her; nothing is too much trouble; and her English is excellent. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and great value compared with local alternatives; the many choices of bread and croissants still warm at 7.30 am. The 'village-square' setting is atmospheric and the evening hub-bub quietens at a reasonable hour (most nights). Behind traditional timber shutters is modern double glazing so you can seal yourself in if you wish or weather demands. Free Wi-fi exists but the local service, rather than the hotel, dictates that it is a poor service; slow, intermittent and unreliable. Parking in the immediate area of the hotel is challenging, but free parking within a couple of minutes walk is always to be found. Cell-phone connections are of a similar standard. We would happily return - the overall experience was most enjoyable and ........ quaint.
