Swim in the sheltered bay and explore the foreshore at this pretty beach. Embark on a new adventure to the Bellarine Peninsula via the Queenscliff-Sorrento Ferry.

The crescent-shaped bay of Sorrento Front Beach is a favoured swimming spot on the western end of the Mornington Peninsula. Swim in the sheltered waters, explore foreshore walking and cycling trails or climb aboard the convenient Queenscliff-Sorrento Ferry at this expansive beach at the largest town on the Nepean Peninsula.

Sorrento is situated on a tall bluff that tapers into the rocky outcrop of Policeman’s Point. Sorrento Front Beach is located to the east of the point, bordered by the Sorrento Jetty. Spend a day by the seaside and explore the beach’s sheltered waters and parkland surroundings. Relax on soft, golden sands, swim in the gentle waves and take in views of the bay area.

A foreshore reserve extends along the entire beach. This green reserve has a camping ground on its eastern end and a second jetty. Try your luck at fishing for squid from one of the two jetties. Grill the daily catch on the foreshore reserve’s scenic picnic and barbecue facilities and enjoy your meal with beautiful coastal views.

For more stunning seaside vistas, climb the stairs that lead up the cliff face from the esplanade and reach the bluff of Policeman’s Point. From this spot, you can see sweeping views of Sorrento Front Beach, as well as the ferries coming and going from Sorrento Pier. The pier is situated on the western side of Policeman’s Point and is used primarily by the Searoad Queenscliff-Sorrento Ferry. Jump aboard this convenient and scenic passenger and vehicle ferry to reach the shores of Queenscliff and the stunning Bellarine Peninsula in 45 minutes.

From Queenscliff, you can begin an adventure in the Geelong-Bellarine Peninsula region or start your road trip on the inimitable Great Ocean Road.

Sorrento Front Beach is located on Sorrento’s bayside coast. The beach is not patrolled by surf lifesavers, but conditions are usually safe. Avoid swimming near the jetties and do not swim around Sorrento Pier, due to the area’s high boating traffic. There is parking available on the foreshore. Visit in summer for perfect beach conditions or in winter for a cosy seaside getaway on the Mornington Peninsula.
