Such a well run hotel. It was a pleasure to stay here. So much thoughtfulness and care without being fussy or stuffy. The setting is gorgeous and the comfort is top notch.
I arrived on a late train, was met at the station, whisked to the hotel, greeted there by two of the staff and then one of the owners, given a tour to get oriented and taken to a comfortable room that was quiet and had a great night's sleep.
The small touches - like fresh fruit both in the room and freely available on every floor -- make you feel welcomed and cared for without being interfered with or imposed upon.
In the morning I made use of the workout rooms and then the elegant spa facilities to take a morning swim.
Finally it was time for breakfast. Not to be missed.
This is a great hotel and sets the standard for the entire area.

A Unique Grand Hotel

Pros: service, food, live jazz music, ambiance, location, personal attention
Cons: The WiFi in the room could be much faster. The old style massive wooden beds were a bit creaky, but soon I stopped noticing it.
Location: Engadin is one of the most beautiful areas of the beautiful Switzerland; there are hundreds of walking/hiking paths around.
Hotel Waldhaus is a unique place situated in the beautiful Sils Maria. We are very happy we chose it among many offers in the Engadin / St. Moritz region. Waldhaus is an example of the phrase "you get what you pay for". At first, it might seem like a relic from the past. From afar it looks like a castle on top of a hill. It was built more than 100 years ago and still remains in the hands of the same family. And life in it runs as smooth, easy and classy as if it has been practiced for a century! A real Grand hotel, with a big capital G. Every detail is thought of and pleasing the eye and senses - from the huge halls, windows, wood paneling, parquet, comfy period furniture, lights, fine china, silver, live jazz in the bar, the library, the cigar room... The service throughout, the food and wine lists are outstanding.
Our room was average size, with small sitting area and balcony. The bathroom was very modern, looked recently fully renovated, with luxury amenities.
This place is simply addictive, we are already planning our next visit this coming winter.
