Attractive beaches, a lakeside setting and an active nightlife make Siófok one of the most popular summer vacation spots in Hungary. In the cooler months the town on Lake Balaton still has much to offer the visitor with expansive parks, historical buildings and churches. Come for aquatic adventures, beachside relaxation, late-night parties and sightseeing.
Many summer visitors spend a lot of their time by and on the water in three main beach areas. The beaches at Golden Shore (Aranypart) and Silver Shore (Ezüstpart) are free, while you have to pay a small fee for access to the central beach by the harbor. Work on your tan, enjoy watersports and stroll along the promenades.
Join the summer crowds at one of Siófok’s most popular destinations, the Beach House. For a small entry fee, take advantage of the club’s stretch of lakefront and sporting facilities. Stay in the evenings to see live concerts and to dance in the nightclub.
During your time in the town, venture away from the water to go sightseeing. Visit some of the town's churches, including the early 19th-century Szent Kilit Roman Catholic Church. Enjoy a drink with a view inside the café bar of the Water Tower. View works of art by prominent artists in some of the parks and squares. These works include The Birth of Venus, a fountain in the main square created by Hungarian sculptor Imre Varga. After your tour, relax in the thermal pools of the Galerius Spa and Wellness Center.
Siófok has a reputation as a summer party town. The main hub of activity is along the Petőfi Promenade where there are many discos, bars and nightclubs. If you prefer your evening’s entertainment on the quieter side, dine in a restaurant with lake views.
Reach Siófok by flying into the international airport in Budapest and complete the rest of the journey by train, car or bus. You can also arrive by boat from other towns around Lake Balaton. Enjoy a vacation of beach parties, aquatic adventures and blissful relaxation.
