The Shueishe Pier is a harbor with many hotels, a commercial zone and views of the stunning Sun Moon Lake. Stop first at the visitor center, where you can find out information about boat tours and hiking trails around the lake. The structure is also home to galleries and videos that showcase the best parts of the region.
Amble along the harbor in the early evening when the sky turns red, creating a romantic mood alongside the mist over the lake. Take photos of the array of boats stationed at the pier against a backdrop of the mountains. Rent a vessel or go on a guided tour of the vast lake, which usually takes about 2 hours.
Learn about the region’s past and present at the Shueishe Visitor Center next to the pier. It has a 72-seat auditorium and galleries where you can see pictures of the scenic area. Browse the display of local farming products and watch clips of the nearby attractions. Go shopping along the commerce street while admiring the Sun Moon Lake.
Follow the Shueishe Lakeside Trail to appreciate the serene atmosphere inthe forest. Relax at one of the tables along the way and admire the 130-foot (40-meter) fountain at Jioulongkou. Explore the Meihe Gardens that overlook the lake.
Look for accommodation in the range of upscale hotels and hostels for backpackers near the pier. Here, you’ll also find the police station and a high school.
The visitor center is open daily from morning until late in the afternoon.
Shueishe Pier is located on the northern shoreline of the Sun Moon Lake in the center of Nantou County. It is a 2-mile (3-kilometer) journey west of the Wen Wu Chao temple. It should take less than 1 hour to walk to the pier through the scenic forest from the temple.
