Fantastic check in staff. Nothing was too much trouble on checking in / reservations etc.I felt they went the extra mile and some more.

Was a beautiful place to stay room was nice and. Clean food was good staff was nice

So upon check in at 3:30pm we were advised that the restaurant was fully booked. We were looking forward to a nice ribeye steak but were left with just the bar food options. Gutted. Went to our room to find there were 3 light bulbs not working, the telephone didn’t appear to dial out so if we needed anything would have to walk from the stable block at the back of the hotel in the rain to the reception. There were no tea making facilities although on the positive there was a fridge an iron a hairdryer and the room was clean and we eventually got the remote for the tv to work after taking the batteries out and back in again. We used the pool facilities- it looked dated - the pool cover was very well worn and ripped and looked a state. The steps at one side were taped off as broken the grill on the jacuzzi was broken. The jacuzzi itself was that hot when I got out I felt dizzy. Not a great experience. The reception called to offer us a slightly later than wanted slot in the restaurant which I thought was lovely but when I then asked to go ahead with it they said oh no sorry that time isn’t available (eh!!) so We ended up ordering a dominoes pizza delivery which the staff were absolutely fine about but we just had to eat in our room which was also not bad. To end the night the bed mattress you could feel the shape of the springs on it when lying down. Overall we think the hotel is dated and a bit run down in certain areas and we would not return in the future.

Very lovely our car broke down and the staff were very accommodating and helped us!

The property has clearly seen better days, was adequate for two nights whilst up in Shrewsbury on business but not really suitable for business travellers if more used to sharper boutique hotels. Majority of the clientele seemed to be working class pensioners on bus tours etc.
