"Up a steep drive to a welcome that every traveller looks forward to. Warm, honest in a beautiful house with views over the sea to die for. This family hotel treats you like a member of the family and is there when needed but leaves you to enjoy your holiday. We even were given a lift to a local restaurant for our evening meal. "Tokyu Hotel is a known hotel chain in Japan. The hotel was an older property. The outside hot bath was nice with ocean view and breakfast buffet was nice with many options. The overall property was well maintained. Staff was courteous."

"Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation. "

"A very quiet place, perhaps the season, walkable distance to train station. The ride along the coast was enjoyable. I had the best Japanese breakfast there overlooking the sea! Well arranged, excellent taste. A great sushi place across at the wharf at the end of the building and also great seafood to be had in town. "

"Such a lovely stay for the price!! We felt spoiled with all the amenities and the location. It felt like a tropical paradise! The staff were incredible and everything was easy for us non Japanese speakers. A highlight was the Onsen and laundry facilities! Would definitely recommend this hotel! "

"This is a great value property close to Shimoda and the railway station. All rooms are slightly different in layout and are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. I booked a room with a shower for both my stays. Windows are double glazed making the rooms very quiet. There are two private onsen for the use of the guests, which are wonderful. There is no lift and my room was on the third floor. The staff spoke some English and were always very helpful. The bicycles they have for hire are excellent. I thoroughly recommend this property for vale, lactation and the facilities offered, including a small cafe and an excellent library."

"The property is a delight. The manager, speaks excellent English, and his wife were both so friendly and helpful. The property is in a quiet location near beautiful Sotorua Beach. It is so calm and relaxing. Shimoda is a short bus or taxi ride away or a 30 minute work. There is only one restaurant within easy walking distance and it is excellent. Suggest upgrading to a room with a private outdoor bathroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay."
