Like staying in a fairytale!

Posted 17 Mar 2022 on Hotels
This small and charming hotel sits high upon the hill, overlooking a nearby village and the Oliphant Tea Factory. It's a quiet location, with stunning rooms - which is a welcome change if you're staying mostly in guest houses or big resorts. The staff goes out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, and the sounds and smells of nature were great - if you like the sound of birds chirping, this is a place for you. There's one tree with tons of them (they said 1,000 but I couldn't wrap my head around that). It's easy to drive or Tuk Tuk into town, and we got to do some additional walking by the village. Staying at Oliphant has been the accommodation highlight of our trip, and we'd easily pay well over $500 a night for an experience like this in the US.

Tranquil, beautiful, intimate and luxurious

Posted 2 Mar 2020 on Hotels
My wife and I had a most wonderful stay at The Oliphant. It's one of the rare hotels which live up to the beautiful photos you see on the official website. Location: It's not very accessible so you need to hire a driver or rent a car. But the inaccessibility is part of the charm. The Oliphant is in a restored colonial bungalow that's over a 150 years old, and in the middle of the Oliphant tea estate. Accommodation: Despite the age, the hotel was recently refurbished and very well maintained. It has all the creature comforts and amenities you would expect from a luxury boutique hotel. Service: The service is simply superb. The staff are highly attentive and personable, and make the greatest effort to ensure that your stay is comfortable. We particularly enjoyed Keshavan's warmth and his sharing of life in Sri Lanka. Keshavan's colleagues (apologies as we didn't get all their names) were also wonderful and models of excellent service. Dining: We went for the half board option and absolutely enjoyed the food. Value: The Oliphant is not cheap. But it's great value for money compared to similarly luxurious accommodation in Sri Lanka. Overall: A splendid stay.

wonderful place to spend relation time with a love

Posted 8 Aug 2019 on Hotels
it was a wonderful stay for 3 days. just beauiful remote garden where you can spend good time alone with someone you love. nothing else to do. you might need a car to be able to reach to nearby city where you can get food and wash your clothes. i would recommend to rent a car (prefebly with a driver) if you want to go to different cities in sri lanka. they have a kitchen to provide food. but prices was at least triple of any good resturant. also no washing machine which is supposed to be there in such remote area. anyway, the place is not to miss if you are visiting sri lanka.

Beautiful bungalow for a one night stay.

Posted 31 Mar 2019 on Hotels
Beautiful colonial bungalow where the service and food are excellent! Only down points are the location; it’s in the highest village and therefore the access road is not the easiest to navigate making Nuwara Eliya less accessible. Also, we were in room 2 and the noise from the rest of the bungalow was very noticeable; the phone ringing in the evening and other guests walking around the corridors.
