Fantastic view from our room and the terraces, easy to walk to Shanklin or Sandown or use the buses. Its about time the woodchip was removed and the carpet replaced in the bedroom, but it was otherwise great as was the bathroom. Balcony had great sea view.
Food in restaurant was consistently good.
First time in Isle of Wight.
3 day stay in The Steamer Inn with my twin sister.
The sea view twin room with balcony was very good for what we needed and was clean and presentable.
Breakfast was good with waitress service.
Staff very friendly and accommodating to our needs.
Restaurant very popular throughout the day and night and the meals we had were very good with fresh ingredients and a variety of choices.
Ideal location for direct access to the beach.
Lift or shuttle bus to Shanklin town and local attractions if you don’t fancy the steep walk.
With regular buses to other parts of island too.
Overall a very enjoyable stay at The Steamer Inn.
I was made to feel very comfortable as a lady solo traveller, everyone was very friendly especially the lady that served the breakfast. The food was amazing and being seated in a nice little table in the corner was perfect for me and I didn't feel isolated.... thank you so much. The view was amazing from the balcony and so nice to hear the waves whilst in bed. Will definitely be back, great stay!!
Perfect location looking across the Esplanade to the sea front. Excellent food served all day in a relaxed atmosphere by attentive staff. This great venue attracted a lot on non-resident customers and there was a real buzz as guests enjoyed their relaxed meal eating great food and enjoying a wide variety from the bar.. As residents we were recognised and welcomed and felt very looked after. This was a great base to explore the Island from,

Off season visit but the Steamer was really cosy. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was immaculately clean and the view over the bay fabulous. A real gem and will definitely be back

Lovely seaview from room. Staff were surly. Stayed 3 nights. Room not cleaned morning of day 2 & after I complained the following day, bed not made. Manager nice enough but we didn’t see her after our arrival. Not a nice atmosphere
We had room 3 great location & spectacular view

Nice beachside location in Shanklin. We had a sea view room with a small balcony
Room was small but quite a lot of storage.
The bathroom could do with additional shelving or storage for toiletries
The rooms are not serviced. We were advised to speak to staff for anything we required daily.
The breakfast options don’t include much in the way of a non fried meal. There was toast and tea cakes but no cereal, yougurt fruit or pastries available
We are a couple looking for a base to stay on the island for a week. The Steamer exceeded our expectation all round.
Our centre-front sea-view room with large balcony gave the perfect view of the bay. Georgie and the team were perfect hosts throughout. The range of breakfast options includes a large well-presented full English. It's a popular dining pub, and we ate in 2 nights, but generally like to explore different places for dinner. It quietens down after dinner and although our room was above the bar, we had a perfectly quiet time every night.
Not many were staying more than a couple of nights, but we were very happy to stay here for the full week.
One downside is there is no parking - no space as you're straight into the cliff behind the building. However we paid £65 for a Council pass which covered on-street in front of the pub (there was always space - we were there the week before the school hols) and also car parks and on-street across the whole island which we used in various places every day.
