We booked in Expedia and paid RMB 278, including accommodation, taxes and fees to the Expedia. When we arrived the hotel, the hotel staff insisted that we have to pay RMB 400 on the counter by cash, otherwise, we were not allowed to check-in. We had to paid RMB 400. The staff said they found out we did make reservation and paid to the website, but they hadn't got the money, yet and they know what is Expedia and had never heard of Expedia. so they needed get the money as soon as we made check-in. The next morning, when we checked out, they only returned us RMB 122, the difference between RMB 400 and RMB 278. Because I had to go to the Pudong Airport to catch the flight in the morning, I had no time to request the money back. It meant that we paid double for the one-night stay in that hotel. So it is awful. I will track whether my credit card was charged by Expedia. If not, that's fine; if my credit has been charged by Expedia, I will request for the refund. It was worst experience for the hotel stay in my life.
