Stayed in many hotels during my 2 weeks around China and this was the only one with obvious "classical luxury" vibe from overall design to the small amenities. King sized bed and duvet were super comfortable. Amazing Bund view but be noted it's towards the North Bund, not the old Bund. Staff were efficient, I had a small issue with the bath tub and a technician arrived at my room door for fixing within a couple minutes. Staff at the lounge were kind and attentive. Good quality food and beverage. Location is great, just couples steps from the TV tower and near metro station. Don't skip visiting the pool area, mean view over Pudong! Massage at the onsite spa was a great closing for my China trip, too. On the other hand, I was under impression the Club room were all renovated recently. However, my room had new carpet, but the chipped wood in the bathroom were still there, just a coat of painting over. This was the only hotel without new style toilet in my whole trip (before that I thought high-end hotels in China were fighting for the top spot in luxe by fancy toilets, apparently not). I could hear music and noises from the 30th floor bar in my room, it didn't bother me much but if you're a light sleeper, avoid rooms directly under the bar area in flood 29.

I booked Kempinski’s diplomatic suite for 1 night for myself and my friend who are on vacation in Shanghai from the U.S.. We were greeted by Eva at the front desk who was very polite and professional. When I raised concern about a 350 RMB charge for extra bed, she was kind enough to waive it without much discussion, which I appreciate! Doesn’t make a lot of sense for the hotel to charge customer extra when customer is already paying for a very expensive room, hope management can look into this.

A nice stay in Pudong financial district close to the Bund. The lobby can have more sitting area. Had dinner at a Chinese restaurant inside the hotel. The food was ok. Nice room with a great view. 10 minutes walk to the Bund. It was Sunday evening; so only a few people on the street, but feels safe.

The hotel is great, however the big flaw, although yes just a TV, is that there is almost zero foreign channels, I know if course we are in China but for such a 5 star hotel there was literally maybe 1 channel of English speaking let alone any other language, I was there in very bad weather and could not go out much, so sorry having no in house entertainment in the room was really bad, come on, it is 5 Star and at least should have Smart TV so one can log onto something else...

Overall this hotel which the only hotel I always stay when visiting Shanghai is excellent except my last visit on the 04th of August. I put my AirPods on the side table and when the female cleaner finished cleaning up, it wasn’t there anymore and the hotel insisted the cleaner didn’t take it. I checked my Find My Device and the location is somewhere unknown to me on that certain street. My fault should not have left valuable item like this.

I really like the hotel. It's very clean and has a classy atmosphere. The Pearl Tower is just a 5-minute walk away, and the Shanghai Aquarium is only 2 minutes away. The staff are extremely helpful and polite.
