I'm not usually picky about hotels but my recommendation would be to avoid this one unless necessary. The location is central in the heart of downtown Sendai. Right across the street from Sendai station. Close to malls, shopping streets and food options.
The hotel staff were nice. No complaints. The room itself was substandard. Top issue was the temperature. It was extremely hot all the time even when we turned down the thermostat or turned it off. We asked for help in case we were all is reading the gauge but were told that there is nothing that could be done. Even with the window cracked open the heat remained and this was during the chilliness of November.
For a triple room, it was tiny. It was difficult to move around in and there was barely any room to hang jackets let alone used towels.
I didn't get to use the hot spring bath on the top level or anybody the three restaurants.

This hotel was very easy to find and close to the transit system. Our check in was fast and easy, and the room was very well appointed. Excellent room and when we were a little too warm, front desk brought up a fan right away-would recommend the Monterey and would stay there again if we were in the area

1. The hotel is 3 minute walk from Sendai Station and is close to restaurants and shopping area.
2. Good size room with reasonable price
3. Good customer service
4. free Onsen with one free beer and big lounge

Staff was incredibly helpful and patient with us and helped us get into our rooms early. This is a beautiful hotel with a ton of character. It’s close to everything we needed and an easy walk with luggage from the train station. We will come again!
