This Canadian province is home to endless wheat-filled prairies, 100,000 glistening lakes and bustling cities such as Regina and Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan is Canada’s prairie paradise. While flat grassy expanses dominate the southern part of the province, its northern belt is dotted with thousands of lakes. Discover its varied natural beauty, friendly cities and rich frontier heritage.

Wander around Regina, the province’s capital city. Stop by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Depot, where Mounties train and receive their iconic Red Serge tunics and Stetson hats. Learn about the history of the Mounties at the nearby RCMP Heritage Center. See the Roughriders, Saskatchewan’s home football team, play a game at Mosaic Stadium. Visit a variety of museums throughout the city, from the interactive displays at the Saskatchewan Science Centre to the locally-themed exhibits in the Civic Museum of Regina.

Amid endless prairies, discover Saskatoon, the province's largest city. Because of its art nouveau architecture and proliferation of picturesque bridges, it’s earned the nickname of “Paris of the Prairies.” Snap a photo of the iconic Bessborough Hotel, which presides over the Saskatchewan River. Browse the shops in Midtown Plaza. Visit the Canadian Light Source on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Scientists around the world flock to the center to use its synchrotron light beams for research.

Explore the forests, wetlands and grasslands of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. The park, which straddles Saskatchewan and Alberta, is also home to the highest point in the province. Check out Fort Walsh, which was the headquarters of the North-West Mounties from 1878 to 1882.

Discover the sweeping sandy vistas of Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park, home to the world’s northernmost active dune formations. See the best of Saskatchewan’s prairie landscape and brilliant starry night skies in Grasslands National Park.

Head north to Saskatchewan lake region, which is home to roughly 100,000 lakes. Dive into the briny and buoyant waters of Manitou Lake. Admire the crystalline Reindeer Lake, which was formed by a meteorite about 140 million years ago.

Regina is a great place to begin your explorations of Saskatchewan, and from there the opportunities are endless. Grab a map, gas up your car and see where the road takes you.
