Climb up a hill to reach this simple white chapel and enjoy the picturesque views of islets that decorate the ocean.

With its simple white façade and serene ambiance, São Pedro Chapel is an unexpected treasure lodged in the far corner of this scenic island. It is a regular choice for weddings, due to its elegance, religious importance and spectacular ocean views. Enter the tiny chapel for a glimpse into its poignant and charming setting.

Come early to watch the sun rise over the water and see the whitewashed façade of the chapel begin to take shape. Embark on a guided tour of the island to hear intriguing tales relating to this chapel. It consists of a small white structure, outside which stands a large wooden cross.

Learn how it is devoted to the patron saint of fishermen, in reference to the fishing history of the island. The chapel has little in the way of décor, relying solely on the faith of local devotees. Among the few hints of extravagance are the religious carvings complete with a turtle and a crab on the brown wooden portal, which stands beneath a small bell.

Wander along the pleasant trails surrounding the site, which offer views of the water. Enjoy a picnic with your family on a patch of grass beside one of the viewpoints and try to spot sharks and other marine creatures. Relax on the fluffy sand of Santo Antônio Port Beach and enjoy the views of São José Island and Rasa Island.

Adjacent to the chapel is the Shark Museum, which has a restaurant that serves shark meat. Peruse the photos and outdoor sculptures to learn about these majestic aquatic beasts. Attend one of the Masses that take place on Saturdays at sunset.

São Pedro Chapel is in the northeastern part of the main island of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago. Find it just east of the Vila dos Remédios region, which is home to Remédios Fort. Take a bus or walk northeast from the airport to get to the chapel, which stands in a sparse and rustic area.
