Santos Beach is a sandy bay area known for the dolphins and whales that can be seen here. Intriguing landmarks, shops and restaurants decorate the section at the back of the beach, making it popular with vacationers and locals. Swim in the warm, clean water with your family and friends.

Enjoy the serenity of the beach, which is backed by rows of trees and plants. Lay down a blanket on the sand and enjoy a picnic with friends. The beach has a grassy terrace and the waves are fairly gentle, making the bay a safe spot for kids.

Take part in the watersports activities, such as paddle skiing, surfing and angling. Snorkeling is popular in the clear water to see the range of colorful fish here. Find rock pools full of marine treasures, such as oysters. Stay for the sunset and snap photos of the yachts silhouetted against a dark sky.

Pre-historic relics have been found in this area, where indigenous peoples would set traps for fish. Spot southern right whales, seals and dolphins in the bay from May to October.

Enjoy seafood at one of the many restaurants at the back of the beach and peruse the shops for souvenirs in Mossel Bay Harbor. Embark on a boat tour of nearby Seal Island from this marina. The islet has thousands of Cape Fur seals.

Note that this stretch of sand is considered a Blue Flag Beach, meaning it meets safety and quality requirements. The site is named after a German boat that sunk nearby. Lifeguards are on duty from November through January and showers and bathrooms facilities are available.

Santos Beach is in the eastern part of Mossel Bay. Take a train to the Mossel Bay Railway Station and walk west for a few minutes to get here. Among the nearby landmarks are the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club, the Dias Museum and Mossel Bay Harbour.
