it is 12 min from airport. it is a perfect place to stay with oportunity of swimming in the sea, spa, good food and totally relaxing before going back.

Great stay
Posted 20 Jul 2023 on HotelsThis place was very clean, modern, and had a great breakfast. Very quiet and beautiful views. Definitely book a spa appointment ahead of your reservation, as they were al booked up while we were there and the prices were quite reasonable. Skip dinner in their restaurant - the food was just okay if not overcooked and there are delicious and affordable, local restaurants in the area. Great stay!

It was a disaster of a stay yo say the least, the first night of our stay the A/C was not working to which the staff response was that they will try to get it addressed the next day, the following night we come back to a pitch dark hot room with no electricity.

Lovely setting, quiet area.
Posted 14 Nov 2021 on HotelsLovely hotel with outstanding views. Beds were very comfortable and room well presented with balcony.
Breakfast was good, with outdoor seating overlooking the ocean.
But there is not much to do in the local area and it's a €20 taxi to Funchal, where there is everything.

The hotel is great, and rooms and hotwl staff spot on. All bar one restaurant staff are great. It is a shame they don't lift the standard of the restaurant to match the hotel and its fantastic location

Excellent resort. Modern, clean, well-appointed, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff who helped us with questions and tasks several times during our stay.
Rooms: we booked a sea-view double, which was very nice. One of the best set-ups of this class/price-level that we've experienced. Bathroom, especially, very well done.
A minor nit is that in our room the clothing storage shelving was butted right against the door. More towards room interior, or behind bed (as some pics show) would be more convenient.
We did have a chance to see a suite, which was of course better than the standard rooms. Unless planning to entertain in-room, though, would probably skip it.
Dining:
dinner - 4 stars, chef is thoughtful and creative, and did not over-load the portions, which we appreciated as we normally do not eat 4-course meals. Lots of local fish, and soups in particular were consistently great.
breakfast - 3 stars. The quality was fine, but variety definitely lacking. We were there 7 days, and it never varied at all.
Swim/Sun: disclaimer - this is early May...
Pools (2) are sea-water, so on the chillier side, but very refreshing. The ocean, likewise, you gotta be ready for it.
Sunning decks are pool/lounge all very nice.
"Adults Only" seems to be more of a marketing strategy, and not an enforced rule. In fact, the sign in front says "adult-oriented" or some such. There were a handful of guests with kids of varying ages down to infant, but in practice was not a problem at all.

Adults only but with kids ...
Posted 15 Apr 2021 on HotelsThis property is advertising adult only hotel but they were kids. Moreover the services provided like pools and gym where only upon booking, and it is open to all the residence and Airbnb around, and closing very early, pretending COVID restrictions, while other properties on the island adapted to keep busy guests after curfew...
Restaurant Atlantis has a nice view but food quality is ok for lunch snack, diner to avoid.
Overall poor value for money.

To visit again only after Covid
Posted 23 Dec 2020 on HotelsThis is a lovely hotel with stunning views. Reception and house keeping staff are very friendly and efficient
Its a shame it is not walking distance from Funchal.
One of the best features is the stunning sea view saunas but these are effectively out of bounds with covid with a failed booking system that they don't tell you about in advance unless you read portuguese!
Breakfast has a stunning ocean backdrop and is normally ok, but has sadly always fallen short here, as does the food in general which you would expect to match the level of the hotel. Staff are like rabbits caught in car headlights and their insistance at a member of staff walking with you to serve you from the buffet a complete failure. Sadly they seem to have an attitude problem as well which has always been the case in Atlantis restaurant but is now considerably worse. A great shame and a serious let down for what is a magnificent property.
Visit Hotel Porto Mare to see how breakfast can be done in covid very efficiently and safer. Sadly Galomar really have failed here. Despite what appears as covid panic they fail to monitor at all if people are sanitising their hands. Its very simple let it run as it did before and have one person ensuring hands are sanitised, or move to table service.
It is a shame they have made the wrong decisions on how to deal with covid.
This is one of my favourite places to stay on the island and I will be back when it hopefully returns to the old standards after covid.
