Pros: Excellent cleanliness & comfort, well thought out facilities, along with a very amicable host & the freedom to come and go as you wish during the day.
Location: Look out for the local festivals on islands, also look out Seals & Whales in the seas around the island. There are numerous archeological remains.
Very clean, well run Hostel. Very friendly owners who are happy to assist if you need it. They have thought about their guests needs & have put in place facilities to enhance your enjoyment of the island of Sanday what ever the weather.
The Bedroom, linen, Kitchen & washing facilities were spotlessly clean as is the site.
In the bedroom it was very comfortable, plenty of bed covers to keep you warm with an additional electric radiator for colder nights, an easy chair and a television on the wall made it a pleasant place to relax in.
There is also a conservatory for guests to use, this is a lovely touch as you can socialise with other guests or just sit & quietly relax after a long day.
A nice thought is that the owners offer the facility of using clothes washing & drying facilities at a very reasonable rate, so no more trying to dry muddy wet clothes in your room for the next day.
The kitchen is well equipt with a gas hob / oven, microwave, cooking utensils & a dining table. Everything needed to enable guests to cater for themselves is present, if you don't fancy cooking or want a nice social drink, I can recommend the Belsair in Kettletoft.
The toilet & shower is a wet room style, which was also very clean. The shower is not a 2 dribble a minute job as you often find, it has a good flow of hot water, just remember the water is very soft on the island, so you don't need so much shampoo.
