JR and the friendly staff exceeded our expectations during a time of a medical emergency in our family. I could not recommend this resort enough. Thank you, truly, for everything.

Looking to disconnect from the world and embrace yourself in some local Filipino culture?...Mermaids Paradise is definitely a great choice! My sister and I visited here for one night whilst making our journey down to the airport in Puerto Princess. JR the owner was superb, he was so accommodating and brought me to one of the local waterfalls. We ate a lovely fish dish that the staff made us from scratch that was caught that day! JR and staff also made us all a bonfire whilst we all sat and chatted under the stars on the beach, drinking some beers. The bed I had was extremely comfy too! This was one of my best experiences of the Philippines so far. It was a shame we ran out of time and couldn't stay longer. Although it's a basic resort, do not underestimate the tranquility and comfort you will discover whilst staying here. I felt 100% safe and all the locals are so friendly. Can not fault JR and his staff at Mermaids Paradise! Salamat!

The owner was lovely Jear and mother made our stay a very pleasant stay, it’s very secluded So you can almost have the beach to yourself and it’s west facing so beautiful sunsets! At night you can see so many stars walking by the beach as there isn’t much light pollution. The food is good they have a bar/restaurant on the beach! You go to bed and you can hear the waves it’s truly magical! Port Barton itself it’s small but vibrant some really cool trendy bars and restaurants my only regret with this place was that we didn’t stay there longer! Also booked island hopping tour with the owner and it was lovely we left earlier than everyone else which meant every place we stopped wasn’t crowded, they caught fresh fish and did a bbq for us on one of the islands we stopped at the service and the food was just amazing! Also unlike most parts of Philippine’s we travelled at this resort there weren’t any sand flies so I give it 10 out of 10

Remote and quiet with stunning location
Posted 30 Apr 2018 on HotelsPerfect if you want to completely escape for a few days. This place is extremely remote though they do offer a free pick up and drop off by boat from Port Barton. The beach is amazing and we had it all to ourselves apart from one or two other guests. Note there are also no other food/drink places nearby so unless you want to go into town you will have to eat at the hotel, though the food was pretty good so no complaints about this. They also organised island hopping for us along with a bus to el nido. All in all a great place to stay for 3 nights if you want somewhere remote.

Not really for us. Very basic
Posted 24 Apr 2018 on HotelsThey couldn't locate our booking during our stay which wasn't ideal. The beds were clean and fairly comfortable. The water in the laps was very dirty. It says that they have 24 hour electricity but they didn't sadly. You have to access the property by boat which was quite inconvenient. The rooms were basic so if you like that kind of thing then you may enjoy it but we would have preferred somewhere a bit nicer.

Great quiet beach

Pros: We felt very comfortable and at home within a few days. The staff was super helpful and friendly during our entire stay,
Cons: The service standards and meal quality for the restaurant were very erratic. Some days the food was great, and others it wasn't.
Location: There is not much to do other than walk to a waterfall an hour away. But we were okay with that.
We arrived during a typhoon, which meant that we were soaked and so was all our stuff. The staff was awesome by giving us extra towels, hangers, and we even made a line outside our room to help dry clothes the next sunny day. We stayed here for 6 days and really enjoyed out time. We were looking for a place to just sit by the beach and chill. Thats what we found. There was a really cool waterfall, about an hour walk/hike from the guesthouse. On this side of the ocean, there are jellyfish in the water. My son and I got stung by one, but the staff was very helpful.
The location was away from everything, and you need a boat to get to any shops, or restaurants, or anything else like that. They do serve food, but if you like a variety, then you would need to get to Port Barton by boat.
The staff will take you to town by boat, if they are already planning on going, but they can also arrange for a boat to pick you up if you want.
There was wifi on most days, but when it goes out, it is likely due to the poor reception in the area. The wifi is only in the restaurant area. The co-owner is Chinese, so I was able to pay using my WeChat which was a major bonus for us, because we currently live in China and then didnt need to carry around cash. Palawan is infamous for having ATMs that don't work. You should always have around 5k pesos in cash for anything that comes up.
Keep your expectations low, and you'll really enjoy your time here.

Posted 7 Jan 2018
Pros: The staff
Cons: Management treating there staff better
Location: It's a secluded island nothing much to do
The workers who work there were very nice and accommodating. But they told us there Management is treating them horrible and they plan on quieting the next day.

Dear Guest
please use your own eyes to watch and don't judge just by some words your heard . Do you know the real situation ? do you know the real reason why the staff told you like that ? do you know why she was fired ? we don't think so .you just stayed here few days, its far from this conclusion .

Paradise
Posted 21 Nov 2017If you're looking for a place to get away from everything this resort is perfect. You're own private beautiful beach with hammocks and kayaks. It's family run and the food was nice. The electricity is avaliable from 6pm to 1am which makes the room hot once the fan goes off. Other than the accommodation was as expected. I wouldn't stay here if you require home comforts to survive. Tour they organise was great to.
