Everyone especially the Manager was beyond helpful and very hospitable. Everything that one could ask or need was available and or not very far away. Extremely clean and cool place. Convenient ×1000

It's unfortunate to receive a 1 review from this guest when he was in the quietest room in the building. What we found out is that this guest had a roommate who was snoring - hence the noise. From what we can tell he did not come to reception to ask to move rooms, which we gladly would have done as we were not full. Or, if he didn't want to move rooms, we could have given him earplugs. Instead, we've received this bad review and a demand for a refund, due to a circumstance we could have easily fixed. We also have private rooms and if someone is a light sleeper they can pay the extra for the privacy.

The Gaslamp hostel is an excellent place to stay in heart of downtown San Diego for budget travelers. It's close to the airport and several major tourist attractions and also has amazing dining options around. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the amenities are well maintained and clean. The only downside is that since it is located in a bustling area, over the weekends, it was extremely noisy in the area around and hence quite difficult to sleep with with all the party sounds pouring in. For a light sleeper like me, that was a real challenge but perhaps for a heavy sleeper, it would be fine. And the room walls are paper thin, so there was also a lot of noise coming from the other rooms. But overall, I cannot complain much. I would stay there again, despite the noise issue.

We appreciate the top scores, despite the concerns about the noise. We do have off street rooms so should you visit again, please request one and we'll place you in the back of the building where you will not hear the street. We are also happy to move guests once they arrive if they are light sleepers as long as there is vacancy in those rooms. But we are glad you enjoyed your stay overall.

Everything you could want in a hostel. I checked in suuuuuper late with no hassle & checked out early with no hassle. Will be back againl.

Staff was very friendly. Rooms all have locks on them and have charging lockers inside to keep belongings safe. They have social events every day in case you’re looking for something to break the ice. Def would stay again.
