From the moment we stepped off the train in Tisbury and spotted our host George's smiling face, we immediately felt like lost cousins come to visit.
The free lift to the spacious and comfortable Hare Lodge was a welcome rest from journey over from Canada, and saved us the effort of lugging our hiking gear and baggage through the lovely village of Tisbury, just one stop past the storied city of Salisbury in the West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Located just a 10 minute walk from Tisbury village centre in Tuckingmill, Hare Lodge is a fabulous home base from which to head out on the extensive (and beautiful) public rights of way that are webbed throughout the countryside.
When you descend after a night in your generously appointed room, you are immediately met with the heady scent of warm butter that can only come from croissants. Home made muesli, cereals, and fresh berries are just the start as the aforementioned croissant, rolls, charcuterie, and hard boiled eggs make their way to the table with a proper pot of strong tea.
George and Sue are the perfect hosts, showing genuine interest and offering excellent advice and service.
We cannot recommend Hare Lodge enough, and we look forward to our next visit!
