Hotel Silver

I am a very experienced traveler and my assessment is from an international, not Swedish perspective. Maybe Hotel Silver compares well with the best hotels in Sweden.

Nice place to stay in a very nice area
Posted 8 Jun 2014 on HotelsFriendly staff. Washing machine was very slow. Nonetheless, glad to be able to wash and dry clothes. What beautiful surroundings! If we hadn't stopped for the night at the Hotel Svea, we would have missed one of the joys of small town Sweden.

Simple but excellent!
Posted 29 Dec 2011 on HotelsThe Hotell Svea is situated opposite the bus and railway stations in Sala and is close to the town centre.
The rooms are basic but warm and clean with built-in wash basins. Toilet and shower facilities are shared but also clean and welcoming.
The buffet breakfast offers everything you could expect at a Scandinavian breakfast table.
The owner and staff are, in my opinion, fantastic and very welcoming. Their English is superb and my stay was easy and trouble free.
If you are happy to miss the uniformity of a modern chain hotel then the Hotell Svea is for you!

Friendly hotel across the street from rail and bus
Posted 13 Nov 2011 on HotelsThis is a small, privately run hotel, without facilities you may find in larger, chain run hotels. Don't let this put you off as the rooms are clean and tidy and the owner very friendly. The shower (not en-suite) gave almost instant hot water and was very powerful and there was a wash basin in the room for shaving etc.
The hotel is situated across the road from the bus terminal in Sala and the railway station is just beyond that. You could not get a better location if you need to use public transport.
Another unexpected bonus in the hotel was free wi-fi, without needing access codes - just fire up your wi-fi and connect!
Breakfast was typically Swedish with a wide range of meats and cheese, along with cereals if you wished.
If you don't expect a 'Hilton Hotel' experience you cannot go wrong with this charming hotel.
