As we were on the top floor it was nicely quiet at night. Very handy location for the high street. Parking was easy. Breakfast was very good.
Had a lovely stay.

Lovely, characterful hotel. Stayed in the single room and it was great - had everything needed. It was very hot in the room, but imagine that'll be nice in winter. There are lots of narrow stairs, which makes walking with a suitcase difficult, but the staff member on check-in did offer to carry my luggage to my room. I look forward to staying again.

The property is old with great characters, these days being given a bath is a bonus, the location is excellent, it is within walking distance of everything, there are beautiful shops, cafes, pubs and parks.
The parking is not ideal, (due to our ailments, we are not able to walk very far), with the burden of a big suitcase, it was a struggle, to walk across a busy main street to the hotel, however, the staff are most helpful.
One important advice, we have overlooked, with the absence of a lift, being on the 5th floor is no laughing matter. Still recommend it for a short break.

I specifically asked for a quiet room. They put me overlooking the main road where endless trucks kept me up all night.

Disappointing
Posted 6 Aug 2024 on HotelsThis is my second stay at this hotel (in the same room coincidently). During the night there was a lot of noise sounding like a toilet cistern filling up (not mine) which I could not figure out where it was coming from. I got about 2 hours sleep in total. Checking in experience was not great as they were busy preparing for an evening event. On check out I was checked out by the night porter as it was quite early. I was not asked how the stay was and didn’t feel it could be dealt with even if I did.
I would not be put off booking the hotel again, however I would check what room I was going to be out in.
