The positive was that it was clean smd close to the market. If you have any issues with stairs, this is not the place for you.

Them proper was a bit dated. No AC and had to climb two sets of stairs with luggage. Location was good, and staff were nice though.

Bad experience in the family suite

This hotel has a great location, and seemed to have decent reviews, so we booked the family suite for a recent trip to Rothenburg. When we went up to our room, the first thing that struck me was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. It is a non-smoking room, but you are able to smoke on the balcony, so I don’t know if someone was smoking in the room before us or if the smell carried in from the balcony, but it was bad. The other issue was the stifling temperature - it was well over 90 degrees in the room and only had a floor fan to compensate for the heat. The last straw was the bathroom door. It was a sliding glass door, but the frosting only covered parts of the door so you could see through into the bathroom. Not ideal with a family of five. The room was too hot for anyone to sleep, and the cigarette smell too strong for us to stay there, so I had to scramble to find a different hotel in Rothenburg (where I had to book 2 rooms to fit us all). I had booked the room for 2 nights, and I was totally willing to pay for the first night. But given the issues I thought they would surely let me check out the next day and not charge me for the second night. I was wrong…they made me pay for 2 nights in an uninhabitable room that we never stayed in. I get that they can’t control the weather, and its not unusual to have non-air conditioned rooms in that area. But the other issues are within their control and I was shocked that they still made me pay for both nights.

Very clean property, our room was very modern and had been updated recently, only a 5 minute walk from the train station and a 5 minute walk into the walled city.

Hotel is located bang on a main road , a crossing. Rooms with front road view are not comfortable as all night you hear sound of passing traffic. My stay was without breakfast but they even did not give basic eminities like dental kit, tea coffee maker in the room. I hope they will improve by the time.

Great location and hospitality! Highly recommend to anyone planning to visit Rothenburg o.d.t. It’s a stone throw away :)
