Ronneby is a small town in Blekinge, located about 20 miles from Karlskrona and Karlshamn. The Ronneby River runs through the town, and traces of the original spa culture that flourished here in the 1800s are still visible today. The river eventually empties into the Baltic Sea, making this a coastal town. A trip to Ronneby can provide opportunities for a number of water-based activities.
Paddle a canoe along the Ronneby River or in the open sea along the coast, starting from Järnavik or Ekenäs. From Ekenäs you will also reach the largest island in the archipelago: Karön. Here you will find walking paths, restaurants, accommodation and a swimming area in a car-free environment. Visits to Ronneby also provide a great opportunity for cycling along the river and out into nature. A 12-mile stretch goes from the city past Ronneby harbour and out to the Saxemara swimming area.
Ronneby Brunnspark dates back to 1705, when a spring was discovered, eventually leading to the establishment of Ronneby artisan well, where guests travelled to bathe and walk through the lovely parks. Today you can stroll through the beautiful, fragrant gardens, and many of the homes and bath houses built in the 1800s are still in place. A flea market is held at Brunnshallen open-air market on Sundays during the summer.
If you are looking to inject a little culture into your visit, you can visit the Kulturcentrum, home to exhibitions along with concerts and theatre performances. Nearby you will find Ronneby Theatre and Mor Oliviagården, featuring arts and crafts exhibitions, with a café next to Silver falls.
Ronneby Airport is in Kallinge, about 3 miles from your destination, making it very easy to get here by plane from Stockholm. Regular buses run between Ronneby, Karlskrona, Karlshamn and Växjö, as well as a number of other nearby places, and boats run throughout the archipelago. If you are visiting Sweden by car, take the E22 or national highway 27.
If you're looking for a break from the everyday and want to pamper yourself, then this is the right place. Find your dream accommodation and start planning for a trip to Blekinge.
