Roervik

Travel Guide
Situated along the coast in a landscape dominated by islands and reefs, Rørvik is perfect for experiencing the best of Norway’s natural surroundings and coastline.

Enjoy lazy days in this small, charming village. Experience active days during the annual festivals such as Skreifestivalen in March or Rørvikdagene in July. Participate in activities at sea or seek out the extensive range of museums in the area to learn more about life in the area. There is something for everyone in Rørvik.

Rørvik is a village in the municipality of Vikna in Nord-Trøndelag with a population of just over 3,000. The Hurtigruten calls here and the northbound and southbound Hurtigruten ships meet here every night in the port. Rørvik is a fishing port and the fishing industry has always had strong roots here – something which you’ll experience in the many activities and museums.

Visit the Kystmuseet Norveg museum to deepen your understanding of the local coastal culture via the many exhibitions on offer. In Rørvik’s market square, you’ll see the statue of Sjømannens hustru. Don’t forget to visit Nærøysund bru, a suspension bridge that spans nearly 2300 feet between Vikna and Marøya. Rørvik is also home to Søsterskipet, Telenor's famous signalling building.

Rørvik is situated close to the coastline, so visitors should expect typical Norwegian weather throughout the year. In other words, it would be wise to pack warm clothes, even if you visit in summer. If you plan on travelling around the local area, you’ll get to experience more of the area’s beautiful natural surroundings, such as the coastal heather meadows.

Rørvik is easily accessible via its own airport, but you can also visit as part of a journey on the Hurtigruten. If you’re looking to travel around the area, make sure to hire a car as this let you explore the beautiful town of Rørvik and the surrounding areas at your own pace.

You don’t need to travel far for an amazing holiday in Norway. A holiday in Rørvik will allow to enjoy everything from calm, quiet days on dry land to activities out on the waters.
