Whether you're in Rodby on holiday or for a weekend getaway, you'll enjoy everything this charming town has to offer, such as its well-preserved historic town centre.

The old part of town dates back to the Middle Ages, and is full of enchanting old warehouses and extraordinary merchant homes, like the stately Willer’s Gard Estate built in 1729. Rodby is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, with a flat landscape that's ideal for cycling.

The Willer’s Gard Estate was built by a prominent local merchant named Jens Marcussen Willer, and served as the base of his family's trading operations for several generations. The building has been historically protected since 1964. Rodby Church is a lovely old building from the Middle Ages. It was originally constructed between the years of 1220 and 1300, but has been renovated several times since. The alter and pulpit date all the way back to 1620 and 1580, respectively, while the baptismal font is a newer addition that was first installed in 1858.

Make sure to pay a visit to Knuthenborg Safari Park, which is just a short 20-minute drive from Rodby. Kids will have a great time getting close to the animals, which are able to roam as freely as possible within the park. A little farther away is the Crocodile Zoo, where you can get up close and personal with Sobek - a toothy, 16 foot-long South African crocodile. The park is also home to some rare albino crocodiles and many other fascinating jungle creatures. If you prefer to sink your teeth into history, be sure to visit the Middle Ages Centre in Nykobing Falster. From May to October, it hosts its very own Medieval Village - a "living museum" where you can see how people actually lived and worked back in the Middle Ages.

The Fuglsang Art Museum in Toreby is a modern whitewashed building that's received numerous accolades for its striking architecture. It's home to a number of unique exhibitions centred around the works of local artists. The collection was started back in 1890 in the town of Maribo and now contains around 4,000 pieces of art. It has everything, from graphics and drawings to watercolours and a wonderful collection of paintings featuring many prominent Danish artists. The museum also owns an extensive collection of sculptures and runs periodic special exhibits.

If cycling's your cup of tea, be sure to check out the Paradisruten Trail, which winds its way through the breathtaking countryside on a series of country roads, gravel paths and public pavements. Rodby is also a popular seaside destination, with several pristine beaches located just south of the town at Rodby Harbour, where the ferries from Germany dock.

You can get to Rodby by flying into Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen and hiring a car for the 2 hour-long drive to Rodby. Or if you prefer the scenic route, you can take the train from Copenhagen to Maribo, followed by a bus to Rodby.

Rodby offers cultural, historical and natural attractions that will appeal to everyone in your family!

"The absolute worst accommodation I have ever experienced. Wooden cabins full of dust and dirt, old mattresses full of dust and never cleaned, lots of ants all over the cabin, couldn't get rid of them. The upper floor is climbed by a very steep ladder, absolutely unsuitable for the safety of children. ..."

"What a little gem for those on passing through on the ferry or simply wanting to explore the area. The hotel is actually an old clock shop made into a hotel to make use of a space left empty, and it's not just a room but a whole flat - very spacious and decorated quirkily with lots of old clocks ..."
