This place is the horror movie plot of the century. This place shouldn't be offered to any human being. This place is literally a light house. Scary!! The place has no wifi as they promise? No cable tv, it has dvd player for tv entertainment. It has no AC or heating, it has no hot water, the bed is as hard ad the floor, no sheets. The room smells like human waste. There is no attendant on site. you have to communicate with owner via phone, and its hard to connect if you need to contact him. The place is just not suitable for human habitation. I ended up sleeping and sleeping in my van i did. It was scary, so hot, and I had to sleep with the glass doors open, i decided to just leave. Do not even think coming to this place. You will regret it for ever, i have stayed at poor maintenance hotels, but this takes the gold medal. Oh on top of that, to check in and out, you have to contact the owner and wait fir him to come, he rided in a taxi,, beyond horrific experience. Then the owner ask for 100 dollars deposit.. its best to slerp in a jungle than here. Not safe at all.

Dear Oscar,
initially thanks for the comment which of course we are not happy with. I want to justify certain things you declare wrong against us. First of all you checked in late 10:30 p.m. when the place is closed. Our receptionist came that night especially for you to open the space and get you the keys even though it states that the front desk closes at or before 6 p.m. like described on Expedia website. He is an employee not the owner!
At Expedia it also states there is no AC and no WiFi available. I am sorry for this but it was announced clearly. We could not detect any bad smell neither in the room nor bathroom nor any defect having had caused this. You had the chance to claim that with the clerk at site but didn't!? Also you stayed there two nights and no bad comment at check out!? I cannot confirm what you mean with "poor maintenance Hotels" because I cannot identify any lack of maintenance at our place. I would like to ask where is your obviously bad comment coming from because my stuff did everything to keep you comfortable and the receptionist is committed to respond to the client for any issue!?
Also the cash deposit is declared at Expedia which was returned and it is simply to cover any damages which CC does not. The bed is Queen size Standard and the mattrass also getting maintained and vaporized in time due to hospitality service standard's. Owner/Manager H.C. Vogel

I was unaware that I needed $100 cash deposit. Prior to arriving I had been communicating with Christian, as I wished to cancel my reservation because I couldn't reach anyone to ask questions the day before heading there. Christian got in touch via email and informed me that they had security, etc (it's off to it's self) and we communicated about me not canceling my reservation. When I arrived, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled. I arrived at 1245, had to cancel my excursions because the next room wouldn't be ready until 4ish. The room was ready right before 6 and I wasted a whole day in taxis and waiting. Clinton, the staff at the hotel was very accommodating and nice. He negotiated taxi rates, etc for me because I had been in and out of the taxis all day.

Dear Joyce,
first of all thanks for the review. I think it is not fair and treating us wrong . To put the details in the right order I want to respond the following.
At first hand it was a last minute reservation which you decided to cancel even without having seen the room. Then Expedia contacted us on your behalf for the cancelation without no fee! I tried everything possible to convince you to visit the place and stay but you rejected. I also offered transportation for our set fee which was cheaper than any Taxi which could not convince you neither. Your reservation hit our System in the evening after business hours so we could not respond over night which is average procedure I guess on last minute bookings. But your stay was confirmed the next morning from our side and Questions answered.
When you first showed up at "el Faro" you were asked for the cash deposit like stated on Expedia under „policies and deposit's“ and told you did not have sufficient cash available. Like I understood you then went back to look for cash and/or went also to the Airport leaving us hanging with a final decision. When you came back in the afternoon the room still was not prepared because you set up Expedia assistance to cancel the room. We did not cancel the Reservation because it is not in our Interest. When you then came back in the afternoon after 4 p.m. telling finally our Receptionist Clinton you want to take the room we had to send personal back to clean the room and finally got you an upgrade for a way better and bigger Accomodation as well and no additional charge instead of the Studio you got reserved. When Clinton confirmed you take the room it was already close to 5 p.m. and the room was ready within 1 hour because the stuff was already at home. Sorry for the Inconvenience! I wished you would have mentioned the spontaneous upgrade or how the room was.

The property at the last minute could not accept credit card payments, and since my ATM didn't work in this country and I was on my last two days, I couldn't afford to pay with the little cash that I had left for the trip, so I was unable to stay at the hotel and had to scramble for a new hotel that accepted credit cards and I had no internet connection so I had to look for hotel without internet and on short notice..

We are sorry for the Inconvenience about the CCard-reader which occurs sometimes in a less developed banking system in a third world country.
But the daily rate was actually affordable even with a little cash on hand which is recommendable to have always while traveling in this part of the world!
