Wander along narrow streets, discover art galleries, stroll through the oceanfront market and relax in cafés along the water.

See the sights of Ringkøbing, an enchanting medieval market town with cobblestone streets, historic redbrick townhouses and merchant homes. Explore this idyllic harbor town and its many fascinating cultural attractions.

The name Ringkøbing means “Market town near Rindum,” which refers to the location of the region’s first church. Explore this area that was once a royal borough, walk near the water and enjoy the fresh air of this oceanfront town, known for its shipyard and windmill industries.

Explore the old town to see the red bricks and red tiled roofs of Ringkøbing’s unique Plesner houses, which line the streets. See the Old Merchants Mansion, stop for a cool beverage at Hotel Ringkøbing and walk to the center of town, where the Ringkøbing Church is located. Notice that the church’s peculiar tower is wider at the top than it is at the bottom.

Dine in an open-air restaurant in the lively Town Square and try Scandinavian specialties, such as smoked whitefish, which is eaten on rye bread, followed by a refreshing cold beer.

Stroll past City Hall and fishing sheds to the harbor to swim or windsurf at the jetty at Sorte Bakker (Black Hills).

A short distance from town is one of the biggest lake areas in the country, the Oxriver Put and Take. Bring a rod and tackle to fish for rainbow trout, lake trout and golden and brook trout. Enjoy water activities on the Familiepark West, horse ride around the shore, bike through the forest, race on go-carts or play a game of mini-golf.

Ringkøbing is proud of its thriving arts and culture. See the various sculptures around town, listen to music at Torvet’s Platform and view artifacts from the 1800s at the Ringkøbing Museum Osterport.

Ringkøbing is accessible by rail from all major cities. It is approximately 75 minutes from Esbjerg and 60 minutes from Struer. Rent a bike or walk to see the sights of the town.
