Pros: nothing
Cons: good question
This place is the pits. If I had a remolded room, which I did, I would hate to see an old room. No security lock on the door, the parking lot is small and unlit, in a seedy part of town. There is also no over night person working. Went to check out in the morning and lobby door was locked. Would not stay here again.

As advertised we are not open 24/7 but are open 7a-11p during the summer months, and do have emergency numbers posted to call if you need assistance. As noted on the back of your room door we do have procedures if you wish to check-out while we are not open, and can always call us to let us know if you have any questions if we are not available at the desk to answer them.

But very noisy, vehicle traffic, bathroom fan turned on with the light and rattled the entire room, this was a first floor room, the overhead joists squeaked with every step of our second floor neighbors.

We are checking all bathroom fans for noise as we are closed during the off season. We hope to have found this fan and have it fixed by the time we open this summer.

Very Poorly Cleaned Room
Posted 7 Sep 2017This was the mostly poorly cleaned room that I was forced to stay in for a very long time. Just about all areas were either untouched (for a long time) or was not paid attention to. The sheets and towels were old and stained with very unappealing appearance. The bathroom was disgusting. It was very, very poorly cleaned with urine on the commode and dried urine on the floor. The tub had scum buildup from about two weeks of not being cleaned. The countertops in the bathroom and outside were both barely dusted. The mirror was also untouched. We spoke to the front desk and she helped with clean sheets and towels. My wife felt compelled to clean the room herself. We learned that the hotel owner is using untrained staff members to clean the rooms. Additionally, the supervisor who was responsible for checking room cleanliness, did check our room, and identified it as having no problems. This is a very poorly managed hotel.

We are sorry to hear about your stay, upon checking your room the items described were not there. We found perhaps instead that you may have wanted a hotel with more amenities that we could not provide and therefor anything we did would not make you happy.
I can assure you that all of our housekeeping has been properly trained and our rooms are checked thoroughly.

Looks pleasantly deceiving

Pros: proximity to Black Hills, Badlands, etc.
Cons: Room needs an iron and ironing board
Location: Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, small towns, Custer State Park, Badlands, Black Hills, etc. Too much to list
Great little motel with spacious and clean rooms. Good place to stay for one or multiple nights.
The Exterior gives the impression of an older, more run-down motel; however, when guests open the door, the room is a welcoming sight.

Excellent Location

Pros: Newly decorated and the tile work in the bathroom was similar to a high end hotel.
Cons: We had a second floor room.
Location: State Fair, Memorial Park and Berlin Wall display, Downtown with President Statues and great restaurants and bars. Ask the staff about coffee shops.
Staff were helpful. I was concerned about the location at first, but later found it to be close to all the places we wanted to see. Memorial park was less than a mile away and the downtown with president statues was also very close. We tried to book a third night and found the motel booked because of the State Fair, this was also nearby.

Beware!
Posted 26 Aug 2017 on OrbitzThis small hotel is located in a very seedy and derelict section of downtown. We felt very unsafe walking in the surrounding neighborhood after dark. The exterior of the hotel was in shambles. The hotel lobby closes between 11 pm and 7 am, so there is no staff or security whatsoever at night. There was incessant noise all night long from a non-ending stream of Harleys and mufferless pickup trucks roaring up and down the street in front of the hotel. Even with earplugs, sleep was impossible.
Though the room was clean and recently "remodeled", the toilet seat was not attached to the toilet bowl so sitting down on it was not possible.
Of course there was no breakfast. There were no close restaurants; even if there was a restaurant with 20 minutes walking distance, it would be risky to say the least.

As advertised we are not open 24/7, and also do not advertise a breakfast. As there is nothing I can do but be forthright about what we have to offer we are very clear about what we do have. A nice clean room, at a good rate, with friendly staff. We do have an emergency number posed on our office doors if you need assistance and always answer your call.
As for the traffic, I wish I could say I could control that but unfortunately the DOT doesn't let me block off any street. However I can assure you we are in one of the most quiet areas in the city.
We are less than one mile from an abundance of fast food restaurants, and less than two miles from the downtown area where there are more than 20 sit down restaurants to choose from.
